Summary

  • Replace the Python portable smoke suite with a C executable, including more reliable UDP console readiness via a marker.
  • Replace the Python fake PS2Link server used by the Linux namespace integration tests with a C server implementing the same TCP/UDP and host: requests.
  • Replace Python CRC generation in the integration script with a standalone C utility.
  • Keep the existing Linux shell wrapper for network namespace creation; no Python dependencies remain in the base test tooling.

Validation

  • macOS make check: five C smoke tests passed, C fake PS2Link and CRC tools compiled.
  • Verified ps2client ping successfully completes the roundtrip against the new C fake server on loopback.
  • git diff --check: passed.
  • Full Linux namespace integration script still needs a Linux runner with unprivileged namespaces enabled.

This is a prerequisite for converting the test/build scripts in PRs #30 and #31 to C-only.

Run portable smoke tests with a native C harness, replace the Linux fake ps2link service and CRC helper with C programs, and remove the Python test dependency. Preserve the Bash namespace orchestrator for Linux-only integration tests.
