A new achievement for everyone with a commit in this repository: git blame, "Landed a commit in the /dev/null repo itself. git blame now points at you." It replaces the contributor label from #1198.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added the “git blame” achievement badge, earned when your GitHub account appears among contributors to the /dev/null repository. Matching uses your GitHub account, not your handle.
    • Badge progress is based on the contributor list and capped at the badge target; it does not depend on activity in the repository.
  • Documentation
    • Updated achievement documentation to list 17 badges and explain hourly contributor-list caching, including how an earned badge remains visible and how unavailable GitHub data affects badge status.

Unlocks when the user's GitHub account has at least one commit in the
repository, as GitHub's contributor list counts it. Achievements only read
the cached list, which the scheduler refreshes every half hour, so a
profile or a commit never waits on GitHub.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

Adds a git_blame achievement based on matching a user’s GitHub account ID to the /dev/null contributor list. The achievement query uses the matching commit count for badge progress. The achievement interface displays its icon, and the documentation and tests describe its behavior.

Changes: Git blame achievement

Layer / File(s) Summary
Look up contributor commit counts
app/Queries/ContributorsQuery.php, tests/Unit/Queries/ContributorsQueryTest.php, tests/Feature/Controllers/SessionControllerTest.php, tests/Feature/Controllers/UserControllerTest.php
ContributorsQuery returns the matching GitHub account’s commit count, or zero if no account matches or the contributor list is unavailable. Tests cover matching and error cases. Feature-test mocks now return contributor lists.
Define and calculate the badge
app/Enums/Achievement.php, app/Queries/UserAchievementsQuery.php, tests/Unit/Queries/UserAchievementsQueryTest.php, resources/js/components/achievements-*.tsx, KNOWLEDGE_BASE.md
Adds the GitBlame achievement with a target of one commit. UserAchievementsQuery uses the contributor count for progress. Tests cover matching accounts and GitHub errors. The achievement interfaces map its icon, and the documentation describes the badge and contributor-list behavior.

Explanation

The title "feat: git blame achievement for contributors" matches the main change. The PR adds a new GitBlame achievement (git_blame) that unlocks for a user with at least one commit in the /dev/null repository, using a ContributorsQuery::commits lookup and a UserAchievementsQuery dependency. The title is short, specific, and uses a conventional commit prefix. It names the feature but omits the GitHub contributor-list source, which is a detail rather than the main point.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 33.33% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 6 functions across 9 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Drops the cache-only read, refresh() and the scheduled task. The badge
now goes through the same cached fetch the About page uses, so an
earned badge stays for as long as that list is cached. Tests start from
an empty cached list so pages showing achievements don't ask GitHub.

Major · Stability & Availability · Heavy lift

Keep the contributor refresh out of synchronous achievement calculation.

When the contributor cache is cold or expired, UserAchievementsQuery::get() can wait for ten sequential GitHub requests. Each request has a five-second timeout, so a slow GitHub response can add up to 50 seconds to a profile or commit request. A GitHub outage still adds the first five-second timeout before the failed result is cached. The same lookup also delays the queued level-notification job.

Move contributor refresh to a background or prewarmed cache path. Achievement calculation should read cached contributor data without performing synchronous GitHub I/O. This shared boundary covers the web profile, signed API profile, commit submission, and level-notification paths.
