Move Occurrence-related classes and methods from main.models to main.models_future.occurrences - #1562
Occurrence results continue to support prediction and identification details, detection images, filtering, and project-level agreement summaries.
Existing occurrence-related views and summaries use updated handling. No new user-facing capabilities or changes to these features are noted in this release.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.

Walkthrough
The occurrence model, queryset methods, helper functions, and project statistics are now organized in ami.main.models_future.occurrences. Imports, tests, and reference paths were updated to use the new module.
Changes: Occurrence model and queryset
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Occurrence model and queryset ami/main/models.py, ami/main/models_future/occurrences.py, ami/main/models_future/__init__.py, ami/main/models_future/tests/test_occurrences.py, ami/main/tests.py, docs/claude/reference/canonical-patterns.md
The occurrence model, manager, queryset methods, and determination update function are moved into occurrences.py; models.py imports and re-exports them. Tests cover validity and algorithm filters. The canonical-pattern reference points to the new location.
Prefetch and selection helpers ami/main/models_future/occurrence.py, ami/main/models_future/occurrences.py, ami/main/api/serializers.py, ami/main/tests.py
Prefetch factories, cached-data helpers, and taxonomic rank comparison are provided by occurrences.py. Serializer and test imports use the plural module path.
Project statistics and API imports ami/main/models_future/occurrences.py, ami/main/api/views.py, ami/main/tests.py, docs/claude/reference/api-stats-pattern.md
Project agreement statistics and top-identifier queries are provided by occurrences.py. The API view, tests, and reference documentation use the updated module path.
Issue 1547 lists model_agreement_for_project among agreement computations to consolidate. This change relocates the function but does not change its semantics or consolidate the listed methods.
Possibly related PRs
RolnickLab/antenna#1518: Both changes address occurrence algorithm-filter methods; this PR relocates those methods and their tests into the new module.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 6813e
This PR moves the occurrence model and its helpers into a new module without changing behavior. One reference in the canonical-patterns documentation still points to the wrong line for apply_default_filters. This is a small documentation fix that can be handled before or after merge.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title states the main change: Occurrence-related classes and methods move from main.models to main.models_future.occurrences. The raw summary confirms this move, including the file rename from occurrence.py to occurrences.py and the removal of the local definitions in models.py. The title is 94 characters and 9 words, which is longer than ideal but still clear and specific.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's Summary and List of Changes sections, and it names the moved classes and the rename. It has a Related Issues section that references #260. It omits the Detailed Description, How to Test the Changes, Screenshots, Deployment Notes, and Checklist sections. The change is a large refactor with a file rename, so a testing note and a deployment note would help reviewers.

the github diff isn't smart enough to give us a good UI for this, but the PR moves the contents of occurrence.py to occurrences.py and adds the other code. You can verify this by looking at the changes of the first commit, where the renaming happens without any content change.
@mihow this is why I recommended using the plural module names - any module may grow to include multiple classes.

Minor · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win
Correct the line reference for apply_default_filters().
The table points to ami/main/models_future/occurrences.py:299. Line 299 of that file is inside model_agreement_for_project (the Taxon.objects.filter(pk__in=needed_taxa_ids) loop). OccurrenceQuerySet.apply_default_filters is defined at line 647. A reader who follows this reference lands on unrelated code.
