Follow-up to #2889 (issue #2888).

#2889 inlined @computed fields when they're referenced directly on the policy's own model, but other policy paths still emitted bare column references and failed with "no such column":

Case Before
Relation member access: @@allow('read', owner.isActive) no such column: $$t1.isActive
Computed field inherited from a @@delegate base, used in a sub-model policy evaluated against the sub-model table → no such column: Video.visibility
before().canEdit in a post-update policy before-update load selected Model.canEdit as a column
Parameterized computed field in a policy plain Error

Changes

  • expression-transformer.ts: every field reference in a policy expression now goes through one buildFieldRef helper, which handles regular columns, computed fields (via dialect.fieldRef), and delegate-inherited fields. The base-table subquery for inherited fields uses the same helper, so an inherited computed field is evaluated against the base table. Parameterized computed fields raise an ORMError (config-error).
  • policy-handler.ts: the before-update entity load inlines computed fields instead of selecting them as columns.

Tests

tests/regression/test/issue-2888.test.ts now also covers:

  • the computed expression bound to the row's own column, including a denied update
  • relation member access
  • a delegate-inherited computed field
  • before() on a computed field, both a regular one and a delegate-inherited one
  • a create policy
  • the parameterized-field error

All pass on SQLite, PostgreSQL and MySQL. The policy e2e suite on SQLite also passes (300 passed, 21 skipped).

Not covered

  • On MySQL, ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE strips Model. table prefixes from the update filter, including inside an inlined computed subquery. Not tested here.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Policy checks now evaluate computed fields when authorizing create and update operations, including fields accessed through relations or inherited from base models.
    • Post-update before() checks now evaluate computed field values correctly.
    • Using parameterized computed fields in policy expressions now returns a configuration error that identifies the field.
    • Structured ORM errors are preserved during read and existence checks instead of being converted into database query errors.

…nd before() policy paths

Follow-up to #2889, which only inlined computed fields referenced directly on
the policy's own model. Other paths still emitted bare column refs:

- relation member access (`owner.isActive`) selected `"$$t1"."isActive"`
- computed fields inherited from a `@@delegate` base were evaluated against the
sub-model table (`"Video"."visibility"`) instead of the base table
- `before().<computed>` in post-update policies loaded the field as a column

All field references in the expression transformer now go through a single
`buildFieldRef` helper that handles regular, computed and delegate-inherited
fields, and the before-update entity load inlines computed fields. Using a
parameterized computed field in a policy now raises an ORMError (config-error).

Walkthrough

Policy expressions now resolve computed fields, including relation and delegate-inherited fields. Before-update policy loading selects computed expressions instead of physical-column references. Parameterized computed fields produce configuration errors, and CRUD operations preserve ORM errors.

Resolve computed fields in policy expressions
packages/plugins/policy/src/expression-transformer.ts, packages/plugins/policy/src/utils.ts, tests/regression/test/issue-2888.test.ts
ExpressionTransformer resolves ordinary, computed, and inherited fields through buildFieldRef. Parameterized computed fields raise an ORMError with reason CONFIG_ERROR. Tests cover update, create, relation, delegate-inheritance, and parameterized-field cases.
Select computed fields for before-update policies
packages/plugins/policy/src/policy-handler.ts, tests/regression/test/issue-2888.test.ts
loadBeforeUpdateEntities selects dialect-generated computed expressions and aliases them to field names. Tests cover before() policy checks, including inherited computed fields.

packages/orm/src/client/crud/operations/base.ts
existsNonUnique and read rethrow caught ORMError instances unchanged. Other errors continue to be wrapped as database query errors.

The before-update policy fix is in place. A narrow MySQL upsert policy limitation remains; merging is reasonable with owner awareness of that case.

…serve ORM errors in reads

- check for parameterized computed fields when loading before-update entities,
so `before().field` can't evaluate the implementation without args
- don't re-wrap ORMErrors (e.g. CONFIG_ERROR from plugins) as DB_QUERY_ERROR
  in read/exists operation paths
