`JAVA_HOME` is a link that `vfox use` points at the JDK you chose. For `--global` it is `~/.vfox/sdks/java`, for `--project` it is `.vfox/sdks/java` in the project, and for a session it is a directory under `~/.vfox/tmp`. An IDE or a build tool that should follow your global choice can point at the first. For a fixed JDK, `vfox info java@21.0.8+9-tem` prints a directory, and the JDK is the `java-21.0.8+9-tem` directory inside it. `~/.vfox` is the default `$VFOX_HOME`. When `VFOX_HOME` is set, the JDKs (`cache/`) and the plugins live there, while the `sdks/java` link and the session directories stay in `~/.vfox`. `storage.sdkPath` moves the JDKs too, see vfox's [configuration](https://vfox.dev/guides/configuration.html).

IntelliJ IDEA lists the JDKs it finds in a fixed set of places: the usual system directories, `JAVA_HOME` and `PATH`, the folder it downloads JDKs to, and the directories of version managers such as SDKMAN, asdf, mise and jabba. vfox is not among them, so IDEA offers only the JDK in use, which `JAVA_HOME` and `PATH` lead to, and none of the others in `cache/`. Add those by path as above, or link them into IDEA's download folder, `~/.jdks` (`~/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines` on macOS):

Run it again after installing a JDK, and delete the links of JDKs you uninstalled. On Windows the folder is `%USERPROFILE%\.jdks` and `mklink /J` makes the links. For IDEA to find the JDKs without this, JetBrains has to add vfox's directory, `~/.vfox/cache/java/v-<version>/java-<version>`, to its list. [IDEA-341256](https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-341256) asked for that for RTX, now called mise, and was fixed. A request for vfox can be filed the same way in the [IDEA project](https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/newIssue?project=IDEA).

Open an issue at [version-fox/vfox-java](https://github.com/version-fox/vfox-java/issues) with the output of `vfox --version` and `vfox info java`, the operating system and CPU, the command, and everything it printed. `vfox --debug <command>` prints more. Data that Foojay gets wrong belongs with [Foojay](https://github.com/foojayio/discoapi).

IntelliJ IDEA 只会列出它在固定几个位置找到的 JDK：系统常见的 JDK 目录、`JAVA_HOME` 和 `PATH`、它自己下载 JDK 的目录，以及 SDKMAN、asdf、mise、jabba 这类版本管理工具的目录。vfox 不在其中，所以 IDEA 只列出正在使用的那个 JDK（通过 `JAVA_HOME` 和 `PATH` 找到），`cache/` 里的其他 JDK 都不会出现。可以像上面说的那样按路径添加它们，也可以把它们链接到 IDEA 的下载目录 `~/.jdks`（macOS 上是 `~/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines`）：

装了新的 JDK 后再执行一遍，卸载了的 JDK 留下的链接删掉即可。Windows 上的目录是 `%USERPROFILE%\.jdks`，链接用 `mklink /J` 建立。想让 IDEA 不用这些步骤就能找到 JDK，得由 JetBrains 把 vfox 的目录（`~/.vfox/cache/java/v-<版本>/java-<版本>`）加进它的扫描清单。[IDEA-341256](https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-341256) 为 RTX（现在叫 mise）提过同样的需求，已经修复；vfox 的需求可以照样到 [IDEA 项目](https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/newIssue?project=IDEA)里提。
