i build and run the document automation at The Best Notary, a notary company in the US. it has been my main thing for a while now and it runs in production every day.
paralegals at estate planning firms send over a set of documents (trusts, POAs, deeds, that kind of stuff). the tool reads them, figures out who signs what and where, builds the signing checklist, and prefills the notary bits before the appointment. then it bills the firm through QuickBooks.
the parts i actually care about:
- an llm reads each document and pulls out the signing requirements. then a second pass checks the names and page numbers it came up with against the real PDF, because models make stuff up and this is legal paperwork. nothing reaches a paralegal until that passes.
- the boring parts are where the real work is. cost caps per document, retries that respect rate limits, a watchdog that recovers stuck runs, cost traced per run in langfuse.
- a few thousand tests across the frontend, edge functions and background jobs.
- documents come in from Make, Airtable and Google Drive, so a lot of the job is making messy real world inputs behave.
stack: typescript + react, supabase (postgres, RLS, edge functions), trigger.dev, cloudflare pages. claude and gemini via openrouter.
the repo is private since it's client work. happy to walk through it on a call.
i don't type most of the code anymore. i decide what gets built, write down the contracts and the "this must never happen" rules, and let agents (claude code, codex) do the typing. then i review, run the tests, break it on purpose, and watch prod. the job now is knowing when something is wrong and when it is safe to ship. i've caught real security holes and cost bugs this way in stuff that "worked".
i keep ending up building small mac menu bar apps for audio stuff. not planned, it just keeps happening.
- roadie: keeps your mic and speakers on the audio devices you actually want. macOS loves switching your call to the webcam mic after a reconnect or a wake up, roadie puts it back. $9.99 one time, 7 day trial. this is the one i'm most proud of because it has made actual money. not a lot, but real people paid for it (revenue verified on trustmrr).
- cans: control Sony WH-1000XM4/XM5 headphones from the mac menu bar. noise cancelling, EQ, speak-to-chat, no phone needed. swift, free, brew installable.
- iim-bound: a daily logbook for CAT prep. scores mocks the way the exam does, attempts and accuracy in, net score and percentile out. live here.
- linkedin-sourcing-agent: give it a job description, it finds LinkedIn profiles, ranks them with embeddings plus an llm, and drafts the outreach.
- crewai-solar-der-management and sunspec-adk-agent: multi agent systems that manage solar and battery resources on the grid. crewai and google ADK, sunspec data models.
