The Submit page asked for a Description, a Write-up and an Essay, and the Write-up (meta.library.readme) was silently hidden on the listing whenever an essay existed. A machine's prose now has one home: the essay.

App

  • The Write-up field and its LaTeX preview are gone from the form.
  • The essay editor starts from a machine's existing readme (after the published essay of your own entry, which still wins).
  • Neither the submitted document nor the issue URL carries a readme.

CI (scripts/library/issue-to-entry.mjs)

  • The Write-up field is removed from FORM_FIELDS and library-template/'s issue form.
  • Write-up stays a recognised heading (LEGACY_LABELS), so an issue from an older copy of the form doesn't spill into the Machine section; its text, or a submitted file's readme, is written as the essay, and the readme is dropped.
  • docFromStandardTM no longer writes a "Standard format: …" readme — the listing already shows the code.

Already-published entries are untouched; a readme still shows as Notes when there is no essay.

Companion: the library repo's issue form (thethinkmachine/automata-library, same branch name) — merge this one first, since the CI here reads both the old and new form.

Testing: npm test — 2612 pass, 0 fail, including a new test covering both the app and CI paths. npm run build succeeds.

The form asked for a Description, a Write-up and an Essay, and the
Write-up was silently hidden on the listing whenever an essay existed.
A machine's prose now has one home, the essay:

- The app's form drops the Write-up field; the essay editor starts
from a machine's existing meta.library.readme, and neither the
document nor the issue URL carries a readme any more.
- The issue form drops the Write-up field. The CI still parses the
heading from older copies of the form, and writes that text, or a
submitted file's readme, as the essay, dropping the readme.
- Standard-format TMs no longer get a 'Standard format: …' readme;
the listing already shows the code.
- Published entries with a readme still show it as Notes.
