What changed

  • sigstore-go 1.3.0 → 1.4.0, pgx/v5 5.11.0 → 5.12.0,
    Homebrew/actions/setup-homebrew → c262868c.
  • sigstore-go 1.4.0 requires Go 1.27, so go.mod moves to
    go 1.27.3. 1.27.0 and 1.27.2 carry
    standard-library advisories that govulncheck traces into this code;
    GO-2026-6809 (crypto/x509, reached from self-update verification) is
    fixed only in 1.27.3.
  • golangci-lint 2.13.2 refuses a Go 1.27 module, so the pin moves to
2.15.0 (.golangci-version, pre-commit hook). Its errcheck flags the
sleeper's channel receive in test/inspectlive; the value is the
expected cancellation error, so it carries a nolint with the reason.
  • README and getting-started now say Go 1.27.3 or newer.
  • NOTICE.txt and THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt regenerated.

Supersedes #114, #115 and #116, which fail the notice gate (and #116
govulncheck) on their own.

Checks run locally

  • govulncheck@v1.7.0 ./...: rc 0 on go1.27.3 (12 stdlib findings on
    1.27.0, 1 on 1.27.2).
  • make lint with golangci-lint 2.15.0: 0 issues.
  • make test: rc 0, coverage 90.1% against the 90.0% gate.

Risk

Building from source now needs Go 1.27.3; release binaries are
unaffected.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated installation and build instructions to require Go 1.27.3 or newer.
  • Chores
    • Updated third-party license notices and refreshed project dependencies and development tooling. These updates include newer versions of key packages and revised license information to reflect the current dependency set.

sigstore-go 1.4.0 requires Go 1.27, so the go directive moves to
1.27.0 with toolchain go1.27.3: 1.27.0 and 1.27.2 both carry
standard-library advisories that govulncheck traces into this code
(GO-2026-6809 is fixed only in 1.27.3).

golangci-lint 2.13.2 is built with Go 1.26 and refuses a 1.27 module,
so the pin moves to 2.15.0 in .golangci-version and the pre-commit
hook. Its errcheck now flags an unchecked channel receive in the live
inspect suite; that error is the expected cancellation.

The documented source-build floor moves to Go 1.27. NOTICE.txt and
THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt are regenerated.

Supersedes #114, #115 and #116.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

The pull request updates the Go requirement to 1.27.3, revises module dependencies and their license records, changes Homebrew action pins, and updates golangci-lint configuration. It also adds an errcheck exemption to a test wait.

Changes: Go toolchain and dependency records

Layer / File(s) Summary
Go version and dependency graph
go.mod
The Go version requirement changes to 1.27.3, and the explicit Go 1.26.10 toolchain directive is removed. Direct and indirect dependencies are updated, added, or removed.
Installation requirements and dependency records
README.md, docs/getting-started.md, NOTICE.txt, THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt
The documented minimum Go version changes to 1.27.3. Dependency notices and license records are updated, including an added OpenTelemetry log license entry and removal of the blang/semver entry.

Homebrew workflow pins

Layer / File(s) Summary
Homebrew setup action pin
.github/workflows/ci.yml, .github/workflows/release.yml
The cask, release, and brew test jobs use the c262868c096d909fc278daa87ed9772967331ea3 pin for Homebrew/actions/setup-homebrew.

Lint configuration

Layer / File(s) Summary
Lint version and test annotation
.golangci-version, .pre-commit-config.yaml, test/inspectlive/live_test.go
The configured golangci-lint version and pre-commit revision change to 2.15.0. The test’s sleeper wait marks its cancellation error as ignored by errcheck.

Explanation

The title "chore(deps): bump sigstore-go, pgx, setup-homebrew" names the main change. The PR updates sigstore-go from 1.3.0 to 1.4.0, pgx/v5 from 5.11.0 to 5.12.0, and setup-homebrew to a new pinned commit. The title is specific and concise. It does not mention the Go 1.27 requirement, the golangci-lint bump, or the regenerated license files, but those are secondary to the dependency updates.
