✨ Add type discriminator to ClusterObjectSetObject - #3126
Introduce an ObjectType union discriminator ("Object"/"Ref") on ClusterObjectSetObject, replacing the ExactlyOneOf validation with a discriminated union. Update the applier, object-controller, and e2e steps to branch on the discriminator instead of checking object/ref nilness, and set the type on every generated and test ClusterObjectSetObject.

API Changes
Object entries in ClusterObjectDeployment and ClusterObjectSet now require a type of InlineManifest or ObjectReference.
InlineManifest entries must provide inlineManifest; ObjectReference entries must provide objectReference. The fields cannot be used interchangeably.
Update existing manifests and configurations to use the new type selector and matching field.

Details
Needs approval from an approver in each of these files:
ClusterObjectDeployment and ClusterObjectSet entries now require a type discriminator: InlineManifest or ObjectReference. The API, CRD schemas, controllers, appliers, and end-to-end fixtures use the corresponding payload fields.
The API and CRD schemas require type to select inlineManifest or objectReference, and validate that the matching payload is present while forbidding the other. Apply configurations, API documentation, and validation fixtures use the new fields.
Process and externalize objects internal/object-controller/controllers/*, internal/operator-controller/applier/*, cmd/object-controller/main_test.go
Controllers dispatch on the source type. Appliers represent rendered resources as inline manifests and replace packed entries with object references. SecretPacker skips reference entries and serializes inline manifests.
Update end-to-end inputs and helpers test/e2e/features/*, test/e2e/steps/*
End-to-end fixtures use the typed source fields. Test helpers resolve object references and read inline manifests according to the discriminator.
The API lint check fails because of the new objectReference field name. Rename the field or add a justified suppression before merging. The runtime behavior otherwise looks consistent across the controllers, appliers and CRDs.

Assert the type and name of each externalized object.
o.ObjectReference is a value struct, so require.NotNil always passes. The test also does not check the discriminator used by the controller.
Suggested fix
require.Nil(t, o.InlineManifest.Object, "object should be externalized to a Secret ref")
- require.NotNil(t, o.ObjectReference)+ require.Equal(t, ocv1.ObjectTypeObjectReference, o.Type)+ require.NotEmpty(t, o.ObjectReference.Name)

In the test around the externalized object assertions, replace the ineffective
nil check on the value-typed ObjectReference with assertions that o.Type is
ocv1.ObjectTypeObjectReference and o.ObjectReference.Name is non-empty. Keep the
existing InlineManifest assertion.

The API diff lint can report this as a new kubeapilinter:noreferences violation and fail the check. Rename both the Go field and JSON name to ObjectRef and objectRef, then update the generated apply configuration, CRDs, documentation, and code references. If the public objectReference name must remain, add a field-level suppression with a reason.
