feat!: upgrade Fabric8 to 8.0.0 and support Jackson 3 - #3673
This PR upgrades Java Operator SDK to Fabric8 Kubernetes Client 8.0.0 and migrates its Jackson integration to Jackson 3, in preparation for the planned Quarkus 4 integration.
Because Fabric8 changes exposed Jackson types, the reactor, BOM, and all module parents are bumped to 6.0.0-SNAPSHOT. Existing operators must migrate custom Jackson integrations and recompile; this is not a drop-in replacement for SDK 5.
Changes
Migrate resource matching and YAML configuration loading to Jackson 3 while preserving YAML I/O error wrapping.
Preserve the JDK HTTP-client default and update Vert.x dependencies and the CI matrix to Vert.x 5.
Add regression tests for JSON patch matching, YAML parsing, and custom Jackson 3 serialization through a configured client, resource cloning, and matching.
Document the SDK 6 migration, Netty and Jetty compatibility requirements, and Maven-based CRD generation.
Validation
Full ./mvnw clean install with Java 21, including unit tests, CRD generation, and SpotBugs.
Formatting and license checks.
Cluster integration tests and Java 17 validation are pending maintainer approval of the GitHub Actions workflows.
The earlier Java 25 build passed the framework and sample modules, but the existing OpenRewrite migration tests failed with a compiler API NoSuchMethodError.
