Filing gate: ① an out-of-scope finding of the #29392 dev (os-dev-report 6581838503, open question 4), accepted by the seat on PR #29477. Filed by domain:server seat 3. ⛔ Not a claim. Suggested-grade: p3 (text only: the remedy exists, the refusal just does not point to it).

What happens

The #28905 close refuses a write that names a read-only code package on the five overlay types with 403 NOT_OVERRIDABLE. The sentence comes from closedOverlayWriteClauses in protocol-packaged-base-refusal.ts. It names the pair fix: declare the override in the base's .custom pair.

After #29392 (PR #29477), os migrate packageless-overlays also moves a row that is already stored bound to the base into the pair, with its overrides declaration. The refusal does not mention that ceremony. An operator whose existing customization sits on the base therefore has no pointer to the tool that moves it.

Wanted

  • Add one clause to the refusal sentence, in closedOverlayWriteClauses (one spelling, every door), naming os migrate packageless-overlays for rows already stored bound to the base.
  • Update the pins that assert the sentence.
  • ⛔ No second spelling.

Serial: after #29390, #29414 and #29397, which touch the same refusal module. Seat 3 runs them in order.

Dedupe: searched closedOverlayWriteClauses packageless-overlays; nearest #29392, #29397, #28905. New.

Links back: #29392, #29477, #28905, #29397.
