Summary

The 20.11.0 release, together with the example and the README banner that come with it.

Release prep

  • Dates the 20.11.0 changelog section (2026-10-27). That section is the release notes: 15 PRs since 20.10.1.
  • Brings the plugin's guide count up to the 25 skills it ships: plugin.json said 24, marketplace.json said 23. The version is already 20.11.0 in both package.json and plugin.json.

Isometric Dungeon example, replacing the Isometric RPG

  • A bigger isometric game on a Tiled map, with Kenney's isometric dungeon assets (CC0, credited in LICENSE.md).
  • Depth-sorted walls, flickering wall torches and soft lights in the darkness.
  • Chests, doors and a locked gate, a minimap, and a camera that follows the hero with a look offset.
  • The gallery route and the README's examples list point to it.

README banner

  • media/readme/hero.webp (2250×850, 189 KB), in the brand's charcoal, Comfortaa and colours: the logo, what melonJS is, and the logo's ring framing real examples. The Tiled and Blender screens sit behind the games made with them.
  • It replaces both the logo banner and the 2011 Alex 4 picture.
  • It's linked by its absolute GitHub URL, so it resolves once merged. dist:publish copies the root README into the package, so npm shows it from this publish on.

Testing

  • pnpm lint passes; master CI is green.
  • The dungeon runs on Canvas, WebGL and WebGPU with no errors, at 60 fps.
  • A sweep of all 54 example routes on the three backends found no errors on WebGL or WebGPU. Its one real defect, Heat Haze on Canvas, was fixed in Heat Haze example: no white screen on the Canvas renderer #1772.

After merge

Tag 20.11.0, push the tag, then dispatch publish.yml with package=melonjs.

…ew README banner

The Isometric RPG example gives way to a bigger isometric game built on
a Tiled map (Kenney's isometric dungeon assets, CC0, credited in
LICENSE.md): depth-sorted walls, flickering wall torches and soft lights
in the darkness, chests to open, doors and a locked gate, a minimap, and
a camera that follows the hero with a look offset. The gallery route and
the README's examples list point to it.

The README opens with a new banner in the brand's colours and font: the
logo, what melonJS is, and the logo's ring framing real examples (Jungle
Rabbit, the Isometric Dungeon, Earth Defender, Water Overworld), with
the Tiled and Blender screens behind the games made with them. It
replaces both the logo banner and the 2011 Alex 4 picture, and is linked
by its absolute URL so the npm page shows it too.
