With ubuntu-latest moving to 26.04 starting today I think it would be a good idea to test with the current set of supported LTS versions.

While testing this I ran into a number of issues:

1. Ruby 3.1 is unavailable on ubuntu 26.04

2. [[: not found in script/travisbuild

3. Build failures on 24.04 and 26.04 due to missing libraries

/opt/hostedtoolcache/Ruby/3.4.11/x64/lib/ruby/3.4.0/mkmf.rb:528:in 'MakeMakefile#try_do': The compiler failed to generate an executable file. (RuntimeError)
You have to install development tools first.
