PR #248 is safe to merge: ruff 0.15.18 → 0.16.8 needs no code changes.
Dev dependency, lockfile only.
- Semver risk: minor bump on 0.x, which ruff treats as breaking.
- Breaking changes (0.16.0): none apply here.
- The larger default rule set doesn't matter:
[tool.ruff.lint] selectlists the rules explicitly. - Markdown code-block formatting doesn't matter: no
.mdfile has Python blocks. - The JSON output and fix-display changes don't matter: nothing parses ruff output.
- The larger default rule set doesn't matter:
- 0.16.1–0.16.8: bug fixes and changes to rules outside the selected set.
- Security fixes / new dependencies: none.
- CI: passing, but it doesn't test 0.16.8.
- CI lint uses the ruff pinned in
.pre-commit-config.yaml(v0.15.7). - Please run
prek autoupdateto align the two pins.
- CI lint uses the ruff pinned in

How was this generated?
Ran a dependency-update review pipeline over the version bump:
- Classified the bump by semver (patch / minor / major) and dependency type (production vs. development)
- Extracted the changelog and release notes across the version range
- Assessed compatibility with this project's usage and whether any code changes are required
- Treated CI as the primary safety net
- Scaled the review depth to the update's risk
- Chose the verdict from semver risk, changelog findings, and CI status
