Fixes TECH-753.

Adds Activity creation. Callers pass the Activity's supporting records directly instead of creating each one and wiring { uri, cid } references by hand, and everything is written together or not at all.

Changes

  • createActivity at @hypercerts-org/sdk/activity, plus standalone createRights, createContributorInformation and createContribution using the same builders.
  • Each supporting field takes new record data (create it), { uri } (reuse an existing record, type-checked, never rewritten) or { inline } (lexicon inline contributor value). No lookup or dedup.
  • Records are built and validated locally, get SDK-generated record keys, and their CIDs are computed with @atproto/lex-cbor (new runtime dependency). Everything goes in one applyWrites.
  • Image and attachment Blobs are uploaded first via uploadBlob. URL strings are stored as they are.
  • Errors: WriteRejectedError (nothing written), WriteOutcomeUnknownError (lists every attempted URI, no retry), WriteResultMismatchError (PDS reported different CIDs).
  • uploadBlob now uses the shared isBlob check.
  • Guide in docs/creating-activities.md.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added SDK support for creating Activities and supporting records in a single write, reusing existing records, and providing inline contributor details.
    • Added helpers for creating contributions, contributor information, and rights records, plus support for location record inputs.
    • Creation results include record references, with distinct errors for rejected writes and uncertain outcomes.
  • Documentation
    • Added examples and guidance for creating Activities, using standalone record helpers, handling uploads, and understanding write outcomes.

Walkthrough

The SDK adds an activity entry point with helpers to create Activities and supporting records. The helpers validate input, prepare and resolve records, handle media, submit related records together, and return URI/CID references. The change also adds tests, exports, documentation, and repository guidance.

Changes: Activity and supporting-record creation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared validation and record preparation
packages/sdk/src/internal/*, packages/sdk/src/blob/upload-blob.ts
Shared helpers validate input, transform media, prepare lexicon records, classify supporting-record choices, generate TIDs, and format validation errors.
Write outcomes and repository test support
packages/sdk/src/internal/submit-writes.*, packages/sdk/src/test-utils/*
Write helpers classify rejected and unknown outcomes and check returned references. Test utilities simulate repository operations and asynchronous PDS responses.
Supporting-record builders
packages/sdk/src/activity/build-contribution.ts, packages/sdk/src/activity/build-contributor-information.ts, packages/sdk/src/activity/build-location.ts, packages/sdk/src/activity/build-rights.ts, packages/sdk/src/activity/create-records.test.ts
The SDK adds record inputs and builders for contributions, contributor information, locations, and rights. Tests cover writes, attachments, and input rejection.
Activity creation and supporting-record selection
packages/sdk/src/activity/build-activity.ts, packages/sdk/src/activity/create-activity.test.ts, packages/sdk/src/internal/slots.ts
createActivity resolves existing references, prepares new records and inline contributor values, then submits the Activity and new supporting records in one write. Tests cover validation, media, record reuse, and write outcomes.
Public exports and usage documentation
packages/sdk/src/activity/index.ts, packages/sdk/package.json, packages/sdk/README.md, docs/creating-activities.md, .changeset/create-activity.md, .agents/skills/using-the-sdk/SKILL.md
The package exports the activity API and documents creation inputs, defaults, and write outcomes. The changeset announces a minor SDK release and the new dependency.

Repository configuration and guidance

Layer / File(s) Summary
Release policy and repository instructions
pnpm-workspace.yaml, .agents/skills/writing-changesets/SKILL.md, AGENTS.md
The workspace requires new package versions to age four days before installation. The added skill documents changeset practices, and repository guidance covers SDK usage and helper placement.

Explanation

The title "sdk/activity: create activities with supporting records in one write" matches the main change. The PR adds createActivity at @hypercerts-org/sdk/activity, which creates an Activity plus supporting rights, location, contributor, and contribution records in one applyWrites request. The title is specific and concise, and it names the primary behavior rather than the file list.

Keep generated TID timestamps monotonic after clock corrections.

When the clock moves backward, nextTid() resets lastTimestamp to the corrected clock. As the clock advances, it can reach timestamps already used by this process. A repeated 10-bit clock identifier can then reproduce an existing rkey in the same collection, so applyWrites#create can fail with a PDS rejection. Continue allocating after lastTimestamp until the wall clock catches up.

Reject existing records with a mismatched $type.

The URI collection check does not validate the fetched record value. resolveRecordRef accepts the response when its URI and CID are valid, and createActivity writes that reference into the Activity. Check that body.value.$type equals the collection parsed from the requested URI before returning the StrongRef.

Suggested fix

   if (body.uri !== requested) {
     throw new Error(
       `resolveRecordRef: cannot resolve ${uri}: the PDS returned a different record (${body.uri}).`,
     );
   }
+  const value = (body as { value?: unknown }).value;
+  if (
+    typeof value !== "object" ||
+    value === null ||
+    Array.isArray(value) ||
+    !("$type" in value) ||
+    value.$type !== collection
+  ) {
+    throw new Error(
+ `resolveRecordRef: cannot resolve ${uri}: the PDS returned a record with the wrong type.`,
+    );
+  }
   return { uri: requested, cid: body.cid };

Review comment at @packages/sdk/src/internal/slots.ts around lines 115 - 127:
Update resolveRecordRef to validate the fetched record value’s $type against the
collection parsed from the requested URI before returning a StrongRef; reject
missing or mismatched types while preserving the existing URI and CID checks.

The clock identifier is now random per key, so keys stay unique after the clock is corrected backwards. Tests cover the same cases as @atcute/tid's suite.
