Implemented a web version of the Satiscode IDE located at docs/webIDE that reuses the main IDE's internal modules and styling via an automated sync build script (scripts/build-webide.js). Created docs/webIDE/web-api.js as a browser translation layer implementing window.api using Web File System Access API, localStorage, and browser fallbacks. Added Web IDE links to documentation pages and added unit tests in docs/webIDE.test.js.

PR created automatically by Jules for task 8361053760434191829 started by @gtref

The new Web IDE silently discards a user's edits when a tab is closed, because edited files are never marked unsaved. The page also loads unpinned third-party scripts and can render Markdown unsanitized if the sanitizer fails to load. Several smaller usability gaps remain: missing icons, non-working find navigation, and flattened folder contents. Fix the unsaved-edit handling and the script pinning before merging.

Exclude test files from the Web IDE sync.

npm test builds the Web IDE before running node --test. The sync copies the three git_sidebar test files into docs/webIDE/shared, so Node discovers and runs both copies. Remove the existing copied test files because the sync does not delete stale target files.

Edited tabs never become dirty, so closing a tab loses unsaved edits without a prompt.

No code sets tab.isDirty = true, and no model has an onDidChangeContent listener. TabManager.closeTab asks the user to save or discard only when tab.isDirty is true. Otherwise it disposes the model at once. A user who edits a file and then clicks × or middle-clicks the tab loses the edits, with no confirmation. The tab also never shows the • marker. Tabs are created at Lines 252, 287, 301, 312 and 328.

Attach a change listener to each model when its tab opens. Add a beforeunload warning for dirty tabs.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

The file tree never shows the shared file icons.

Three problems cause this:

  • The code imports initIcons but never calls it. iconMap stays {}, so getFileIcon always returns the ▱ fallback.
  • If initIcons runs, it fetches icons/style1/icons.json. That path resolves from docs/webIDE/ and does not match the real location, shared/icons/style1/icons.json.
  • If the icons load, getFileIcon returns SVG markup. Line 270 assigns it to textContent, so the tree shows the raw <svg ...> text.

Load the icon map from the correct path and insert the SVG as markup. The icons come from a local JSON file, not from user input.

Proposed fix
-      icon.textContent = getFileIcon(entry.name);
+      icon.innerHTML = getFileIcon(entry.name);

In shared/icons.js:

-    const response = await fetch('icons/style1/icons.json');
+    const response = await fetch(new URL('./icons/style1/icons.json', import.meta.url));

At startup, before refreshDirectory():

await initIcons();

The previous and next buttons in the Find dialog do nothing.

The code adds listeners to find-btn, find-close-btn and find-input, but not to find-prev-btn or find-next-btn. The user can select only the first match. Enter and Escape in the input also have no handler.

Pin the CDN script versions and add integrity attributes.

The marked and dompurify URLs on Line 13 and Line 14 have no version. jsDelivr serves the latest npm release for each request. A new major release can change the API and break the preview. A compromised npm publish would also run in the docs origin. Line 15 and Line 16 are pinned but have no integrity attribute.

There is one more dependency on dompurify. In app.js, WebMarkdownView.render inserts unsanitized HTML when window.DOMPurify does not load. Pin exact versions, add integrity and crossorigin="anonymous", and do not render Markdown if the sanitizer is missing.

+  <script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/dompurify@<exact-version>/dist/purify.min.js" integrity="sha384-..." crossorigin="anonymous"></script>

In app.js:

-    this.article.innerHTML = clean;
+    if (!window.DOMPurify) { this.article.textContent = markdown; return; }

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Stop stale refresh results from overwriting the current workspace state.

refresh writes this.state after await Promise.all(...) and never checks that the workspace is still the same.

  • Scenario 1: The user opens workspace A, and its status call is slow. The user then opens workspace B. B's refresh finishes first. A's refresh then finishes and replaces the state with A's entries and commits.
  • Scenario 2: The user calls setWorkspace(null) while a refresh is still running. The state changes to empty. The pending refresh then sets mode: 'repository' with the old repository's data.

The same problem occurs when runAction calls refresh after a workspace change.

In both scenarios, the sidebar shows files and history from a repository that is not open. "Stage all" and "Commit" stay enabled, but GitManager sends those commands to the new workspace. The wrong state stays until the next refresh.

Add a request token. Write the result only if the token is still the latest one and the workspace has not changed.

In setWorkspace, also increment this.refreshToken when the workspace is cleared. This invalidates any refresh that is still running.

Update refresh to capture the current workspace and increment a refreshToken
request counter before awaiting status and log data; build the success or error
result locally, then apply and render it only when the token remains latest and
the captured workspace still equals this.workspace. Update setWorkspace to
increment refreshToken when clearing or changing the workspace so pending
refreshes cannot overwrite the empty or new-workspace state.

Keep the commit message draft when the panel re-renders.

render() creates a new empty #git-commit-message input on every call. runAction('commit', message) calls setMessage(..., 'loading'), and setMessage re-renders the panel at once. If the commit then fails, for example because user.email is not configured or a hook rejects the commit, the error render shows an empty input. The user's commit message is lost and the user must type it again. Any refresh that runs while the user types also clears the input.

Store the draft in this.state from the input listener. Restore it in render(). Clear it only after a successful commit.

Preserve the commit message draft across panel re-renders by storing updates
from the #git-commit-message input listener in the component state and restoring
that value when render creates the input. Clear the stored draft only after a
successful commit in runAction('commit'), while retaining it when the commit
fails or during refreshes.

Open Folder merges files that share a name in different subdirectories.

The fallback uses ${activeWorkspacePath}/${file.name} as the map key and ignores webkitRelativePath. Example: a project has both src/index.js and test/index.js. Both files get the key /<folder>/index.js, and the last file read replaces the other. The tree then shows one entry, and that entry can contain the content of the wrong file. Every nested file also appears as a top-level file.

Use file.webkitRelativePath to build the path. Update listDirectory to match: either show the relative path in name, or list files by their real parent directory.

Update the Open Folder fallback loop to construct each virtual file path from
file.webkitRelativePath, removing the selected root folder prefix while
retaining nested directories and falling back to file.name when absent. Store
that relative path as the file’s name so files such as src/index.js and
test/index.js remain distinct, and update listDirectory to display or group
these relative paths consistently.

gitBlame returns invented blame data.

The stub returns a fixed commit hash 1a2b3c4d and a fixed date. It also assigns the line to the user's stored name. The blame dialog shows this text as real Git output. The Web IDE has no Git history, so this misleads the user. Return an empty stdout. app.js then shows the existing noBlameData message.
