…ide quest - Add a match-tool-to-screenshot self-check (collapsible reveal) before the conceptual screenshots section, addressing the curriculum evaluator finding that the page reads passively despite length. - Split the single glossary table into two focused tables (development environments, AI tools and models), each followed by a one-item takeaway checklist so learners confirm understanding incrementally instead of scanning one long table. - Trim redundant descriptive sentences under each screenshot (info already present in the glossary tables) to offset the added activity markup and keep the page under ~1,330 words. - Preserve the existing checkpoint section, links, and images unchanged. Addresses curriculum-eval issue: side-quest-01-02-environment-reference.md — active_learning (2.1, benchmark >=10) and cognitive_load word-count flags. What changed
Improved
workshop/side-quest-01-02-environment-reference.md, the lowest-scoring file (4.93/10.0) flagged by the automated Curriculum Quality Evaluator, per itsactive_learning(2.1, benchmark ≥10) andcognitive_load(word-count) findings.Learner pain point addressed
This reference page was 1,433 words with an activity density of only 0.63 — nine sequential image+caption blocks read passively with only one hands-on check (
gh --version/git --version). Learners had no structured way to confirm they actually retained which tool maps to which screenshot before moving on.Why it helps workshop flow
The new reveal-style self-check and incremental table takeaways convert passive recognition into retrieval practice, consistent with Cognitive Load Theory and Mayer's Multimedia Principle — without inflating the page length. This follows the curriculum evaluator's improvement prompt for this file.
