Summary

Follow-up to #1344, from CodeRabbit's review there. The privacy page's MCP section still said neither MCP server sends anything off the machine; openscreen mcp now sends the anonymous daily count. The sentence now says agent traffic stays local and the daily count is the only thing that leaves. English and the 7 locales.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated the privacy policy to clarify that the standalone openscreen mcp command sends the same anonymous daily usage count as the desktop app.
    • Clarified that agents connected to the MCP server may share project data and still images with their model providers.

The MCP section still said neither server sends anything off the machine, which stopped being true once openscreen mcp sends the anonymous usage ping (#1344). Corrected in English and the 7 locales.

📝 Walkthrough

The privacy notice and its translations now state that openscreen mcp sends the same anonymous daily usage count described for the desktop app. The notices retain their existing descriptions of MCP agent communication and possible forwarding of project data and still images.

Correct the phrase for data sent off-device.

两者唯一会发出你电脑的 is ungrammatical in this context and may read as “send out your computer.”

## The MCP server and the agent plugin

OpenScreen's MCP server runs on your computer: `openscreen mcp` talks to the agent that started it, and the server built into the app listens only on 127.0.0.1, behind a token. Neither sends anything off your machine. The agent you connect, such as Claude Code or Codex, receives project data and still frames from them, and may pass them to its own model provider under that agent's terms.

What they exchange with the agent stays on your machine. The only thing either sends off it is the anonymous daily count described above, which `openscreen mcp` sends just as the app does. Separate the standalone MCP ping from the desktop-app ping.

The word “either” makes the embedded MCP server appear to send the anonymous count. The telemetry paths identify only openscreen mcp (surface: "mcp") and the desktop app (surface: "app"). Replace the sentence in the canonical notice and all seven locale copies with wording that names those two senders directly.

- The only thing either sends off it is the anonymous daily count described above, which `openscreen mcp` sends just as the app does.
+ The only thing `openscreen mcp` sends off it is the anonymous daily count described above. The desktop app sends the same count.
