📝 Walkthrough

Adds clip-anchored video overlay regions with four layouts. The change adds timeline editing, preview rendering, inspector controls, clipboard support, agent tools, and SceneDescription projection.

Changes: Multi-video overlay regions

Layer / File(s) Summary
Overlay document model and region lifecycle
src/lib/ai-edition/schema/index.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/document/timeline.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/timeline/timelineMap.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/document/audioTracks.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/document/videoOverlay.test.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/store/useTimeline.test.ts
The schema defines overlay ranges and layout settings. Timeline operations include overlays in region mapping, anchoring, duplication, removal, counting, and clearing. Source offsets advance when regions are cut or projected into fragments. Tests cover creation, updates, lifecycle operations, and source offsets.
Timeline state and agent tools
src/lib/ai-edition/store/useTimeline.ts, electron/ai-edition/agent-tools.ts, electron/ai-edition/deep-agent/service.ts, electron/ai-edition/deep-agent/service.test.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/store/documentWriteAudit.test.ts, electron/ai-edition/agent-tools.test.ts
The timeline store creates and updates anchored overlays and supports deletion. Agent tools validate creation and updates, expose overlay details in document snapshots, and support removal. Write-audit and tool tests cover the new overlay operations.
Timeline, inspector, clipboard, and preview
src/components/ai-edition/NewEditorShell.tsx, src/components/ai-edition/Preview.tsx, src/components/ai-edition/PreviewCanvas.tsx, src/components/ai-edition/v4/FloatingInspector.tsx, src/components/ai-edition/v4/V4Timeline.tsx, src/lib/ai-edition/store/regionClipboard.ts, src/components/ai-edition/v4/FloatingInspector.test.tsx, src/i18n/locales/*/editor.json, src/i18n/locales/*/timeline.json
The editor adds overlay timeline controls, inspector settings, and clipboard handling. PreviewCanvas renders active overlays using their layout, source offset, and audio settings. Locale files add overlay labels.
SceneDescription overlay projection
src/native/sceneDescription.ts, src/lib/ai-edition/document/videoOverlay.test.ts
SceneDescription includes overlay regions projected onto visible clips when the referenced video asset has a resolvable path.

Include overlays in dropped-modifier reporting.

When removeClip drops an overlay anchored to that clip, droppedByEdit compares IDs from modifierIdsOf. That helper omits videoOverlayRanges, so the tool result and summary do not disclose the deleted overlay. Add overlay IDs to modifierIdsOf so clip edits report this loss.

Size the primary picture for split layouts.

The side-by-side and top-bottom branches position the secondary video, but they leave NativeCompositorOverlay at its existing full-frame size. The secondary video therefore covers part of the primary picture instead of placing two complete pictures in separate regions. Compute both picture regions for these layouts and apply the primary region to the compositor or its containing stage.

Advance overlay source time when a clip edit cuts its head.

If an overlay covers source seconds 2–8 and a clip edit narrows its primary clip to seconds 4–10, the generic rederivation moves the overlay start to second 4. It does not advance sourceOffsetSec: cutTakeHead only handles offsetMs. The secondary video therefore restarts two seconds early. Advance overlay source offsets when clipping or ventilating overlay fragments, and check the projected segments after trims. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Advance the overlay source offset for each trimmed fragment.

If a trim splits an anchored overlay, projectRegionsToSource emits a new entry for each kept segment. This line gives every entry the original sourceOffsetSec. For an overlay that starts at primary source second 1, a fragment that starts at second 3 therefore restarts the secondary video at the original offset instead of continuing two seconds later. Derive each fragment’s offset from its position within the original overlay, using playback elapsed time if speed changes affect that interval.

Remove the fixed 60-second source-offset limit.

When a secondary video is longer than 60 seconds, this slider cannot select footage later in the asset. A clip fragment can also acquire a rebased sourceOffsetSec above 60 seconds, leaving its stored value outside the control’s range. Use an asset-aware limit or an input that accepts the valid offset.

Implement native composition for videoOverlayRegions.

A valid videoOverlayRanges entry reaches buildSceneDescription, which emits videoOverlayRegions. The native preview and MP4/GIF export paths parse that scene as Rust Scene, but Scene has no matching field. Serde therefore drops the overlay data before composition. Native exports omit the secondary video.

Add the native scene field, asset loading, and composition. This is separate from resizing the primary split-screen preview.

🟠 Major · Support videoOverlayRegions in native output paths. · sceneDescription.ts:1643-1646

src/native/sceneDescription.ts:1643-1646
🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Support videoOverlayRegions in native output paths.

When sceneVideoOverlayRegions is non-empty, buildSceneDescription adds videoOverlayRegions to the scene JSON. The reachable exportMultiNative and render_frames paths deserialize that JSON into Rust Scene, which has no corresponding overlay field. Both paths then call comp.set_scene(scene), so native MP4 exports and rendered frames can omit authored video overlays and retain only the primary footage.

Extend the native scene and compositor paths to deserialize and render videoOverlayRegions for both output paths before exposing this field as supported output.

Extend the native Scene deserialization and compositor rendering paths used by
exportMultiNative and render_frames to preserve videoOverlayRegions from
buildSceneDescription through rendered output. Add the corresponding scene
representation and rendering support in both paths so authored overlays appear
in native MP4 exports and rendered frames.
🟡 Minor · Localize the overlay control label. · V4Timeline.tsx:2204-2208

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Localize the overlay control label.

The tooltip and aria-label use hard-coded English strings. In other locales, the button remains English for both visual and screen-reader users. Use translation keys for both labels.
