Summary

projectRegionsToSource rounded every piece bound to the ms. The clip itself keeps its exact start. When a Full Camera piece starts at a cut, the compositor gates it in f32 (continues_before → t < start), and the clip's first frame lands on the clip's exact start. A start that rounded up (46.34986635 → 46.350, 10.292957 → 10.293) put that frame before the piece. The camera went back to its PiP corner, and motion blur trailed it there. Starts that rounded down were clean. The end of a piece before a cut had the same problem in mirror.

Fix: a bound at a cut (continuesBefore / continuesAfter) is no longer rounded. A region's own bounds still round. When I removed the rounding everywhere, the same export moved a caption and two Full Camera ramps by one frame, so I kept the change to cut bounds only.

Testing

  • New timelineMap.test.ts cases. Before the fix they fail on 10.292957, 18.361809 and 46.34986635 (piece start) and on 6.284394 and 14.340314 (piece end). They pass after it. Controls that pass on both sides: 6.284394 as a start, 10.292957 as an end.
  • npx tsc --noEmit, npx tsc -p tsconfig.test.json --noEmit, Biome. vitest on src/lib/ai-edition/timeline and src/native: 34 files, 577 tests.
  • CLI export of the real Windows project from the rc.5 pass (1752×1080, 60 fps, 4890 frames). Both sides use the same rc.5 compositor addon; only dist differs (main vs this branch). Exports are byte-deterministic (4/4 per side).
    • Frames 0 to 2124 are byte-identical. That includes the cuts at 13.105645, 16.03, 21.85 and 26.53.
    • Frame 2128, the first after the cut at 46.34986635: 16.2 dB between before and after. Before it trails to the PiP corner, after it is clean.
    • Every other frame is at 44.3 dB or higher. That is encoder drift after the changed frame: uniform edge noise, nothing localized.
    • Export time: before 19.1 / 19.9 / 19.8 s, after 19.1 / 19.0 / 19.4 / 19.8 s. No regression.
  • Not covered: the editor preview (it reads the same scene description) and an export of the macOS or Linux cuts (covered by the unit test).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Preserved exact millisecond boundaries at timeline cuts for regions marked as continuing, preventing adjacent pieces from losing their shared boundary.
    • Corrected fractional-timestamp cut handling so the first frame after a cut and the last frame before it retain their continuation boundaries.

projectRegionsToSource rounded each piece's source bounds to the ms, while
the clip keeps its exact start. A piece cut by a trim is gated in f32 by the
compositor (continues_before: t < start), and the clip's first frame lands
on the clip's own start. Where that start rounded up (10.292957 -> 10.293,
46.34986635 -> 46.350) the first frame fell before the piece: camera back in
its PiP corner, motion blur trailing it there. A start that rounded down was
clean, and the same held mirrored for a piece's end before a cut.

Leave a bound at a cut unrounded, so it sits exactly on the segment's bound.
A region's own bounds keep their rounding: unrounding those too moved a
caption and two Full Camera ramps by a frame in the same export. Every
consumer divides the bounds by 1000 into an f64 startSec, so nothing
downstream needs an integer.

Assert the cut bound exactly.

The current inequalities also pass when after.startMs is before the cut or before.endMs is after it. The native compositor keeps these fragments by clipIndex and uses their bounds to calculate the Full Camera phase. An overextended bound can therefore change the transition span for a short piece.

Update the cut-bound assertions in the “keeps the first frame after a cut” and
“keeps the last frame before a cut” tests so the frounded `after.startMs / 1000`
and `before.endMs / 1000` values each equal the frounded `cut`, rather than
merely satisfying inequalities. Keep the existing `continuesBefore` and
`continuesAfter` assertions unchanged.
