Andrew Matia, software engineering, business systems and open source

Andrew Matia

Senior Software Engineer & Software Architect
Founder of Lineweb · Thessaloniki, Greece

I turn complex business operations into dependable software.
From architecture and implementation to the work that continues after launch.

Engineering with ownership

My starting point is the business problem, not the framework. I work on custom applications, B2B systems, commerce and digital products where the interface, data model, integrations and day-to-day operations need to fit together.

Through Lineweb, I combine hands-on development with software architecture, UX, security, performance and technical delivery. That includes choosing clear boundaries, deciding what should be custom, and understanding who will operate and maintain the system.

I began with community websites and templates in 2009. Client work followed, and Lineweb became the studio through which I build and support that work. Read my story.

Architecture to production

  • Software architecture: application boundaries, data models, permissions, APIs and integration contracts.
  • Product engineering: Laravel/PHP and Node.js backends, React/TypeScript interfaces, business workflows and operational tools.
  • Commerce and B2B: WordPress, WooCommerce, custom plugins, partner portals and business-specific integrations.
  • Reliable delivery: validation, testing, security reviews, performance, infrastructure, staged releases and recovery paths.
  • Practical automation: workflows that reduce repetitive work while keeping human decisions and accountability visible.

I prefer the simplest maintainable solution that meets the real requirements. The work should remain understandable to the people who inherit it.

Products and client work

HandsApp and Leado are part of my product work alongside Lineweb's custom client systems. They are distinct products, not labels for every project I deliver.

For a closer look at the work, see Diathermiki, Stemma Cosmetics and the complete work archive. Public client feedback includes named sources and project context.

Most client software remains private. When something can be useful beyond one engagement, I publish it as a documented open-source tool.

Open-source software

Lineweb Social

A Laravel-native, self-hosted foundation for communities and social products, with feeds, profiles, Spaces, messaging, moderation, privacy controls and APIs.

WordPress and WooCommerce tools

Project Purpose
Lineweb Blocks Suite Native Gutenberg blocks for pricing, comparisons, evidence and decision tools.
Lineweb Commerce Suite WooCommerce tools for product specifications, delivery estimates, shipping progress and comparison.
Lineweb Checkout GR Greek receipt and invoice fields for classic and block checkout.
Lineweb Store Guard Read-only store preflight snapshots and before/after update diagnostics.
Lineweb Content Review Content ownership, review dates and overdue review workflows.
Lineweb Restaurant Orders A self-hosted restaurant menu and ordering plugin.
Withdrawal for WooCommerce Electronic contract-withdrawal statements and timestamped receipts.

Each repository documents its installation, licence, capabilities and operational boundaries. Check its releases and documentation before choosing it for a production system.

Contributing upstream

I contribute focused fixes, tests and compatibility improvements to the open-source software I depend on. The aim is to solve an actual problem upstream, rather than leave another local workaround for the next developer.

My public contribution record links to accepted pull requests across WordPress, WooCommerce and the wider PHP and web ecosystem. The links are the evidence, not a claim of affiliation or ownership of those projects.

Working stack

PHP · Laravel · Node.js · React · TypeScript · WordPress · WooCommerce

REST APIs · MySQL · PostgreSQL · Redis · Docker · Git · Linux · Plesk

The stack follows the project. A focused website, a commerce platform and a multi-user business application do not need the same architecture.

Work together

I work through Lineweb as an independent technical and delivery partner for businesses, product teams and other studios. Engagements can cover a focused build, an existing system that needs improvement, or an ongoing engineering partnership.

Bring the goal, the current system and the constraints. We can then agree a practical scope, responsibilities, delivery and support.
