Tab Count's published package still uses Manifest V2. This release completes the service-worker migration and prepares version 3.0.0 for the existing Chrome Web Store item.
Registers worker events synchronously, replaces the unused-tab interval with an hourly Chrome alarm, and uses Chrome's last-accessed timestamps instead of an in-memory history. Pending duplicate actions survive worker suspension and recheck tab URLs before closing anything. Auto-close protects active, pinned, playing, loading, incognito, and internal tabs.
The popup renders titles as text and uses keyboard-accessible controls. Settings apply immediately, validate thresholds, and safely migrate legacy preferences. Includes a local-only privacy policy, store disclosures and fresh screenshots, package allowlisting, and CI. Related lifecycle findings are also described in #16; that contributor branch is unchanged.
Validation: npm run package passes 13 regression/package tests and syntax checks. Loaded the packaged extension in a clean Chrome for Testing 149 profile and checked counts, scope changes, cross-window switching, closing a disposable tab, settings persistence, invalid input, a 320px layout, and an empty extension-page console. OS notification display and buttons depend on system settings.
