feat: highlight new notifications when the notifications page opens - #1369
When you get a notification and open the notifications page, nothing shows which entry is new: you have to find it yourself. Notifications that are new since your last visit now get the same highlight the log gives commits that just arrived: a blue left border and a soft blue background. The highlight holds for about three seconds, then fades. Notifications that arrive with the 30-second poll get it too.
As suggested in review, this is now a CSS animation only, with no JavaScript.
Changes
resources/css/app.css: a fresh-highlight theme animation (animate-fresh-highlight). It holds the same colours as [data-commit][data-fresh=''] for about 3 seconds of its 4.4 seconds, then fades out over the rest. It has no fill-mode, so the row's hover and focus backgrounds work again once it ends.
resources/js/pages/notification/index.tsx: a notification group gets animate-fresh-highlight when isNewSince(group, readAt) is true. That is the same rule as the entries above the HEAD@{last visit} marker. The row's key includes event_count, so a group highlights again when a new event joins it (for example another star). Rows already on the page don't replay the highlight when the poll refreshes the list.
The earlier use-fresh-rows hook, its test and the log page refactor are removed. The log is unchanged from production.
Validation
All run locally; hosted CI is pending.
bun run build: pass. The built CSS includes the fresh-highlight keyframes.
bun run test:lint and bun run test:types: pass.
bun run test:unit: 221 pass, 1 fail. The failure, tests/Unit/RemotePushAccountIsolation.test.ts, comes from production and needs worker_threads.locks, which the local Node 22 doesn't have.
composer test:lint, composer test:types and composer test:type-coverage: pass.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.
Walkthrough
A shared hook and helper manage fresh-row highlighting for commits and notification groups. The notification feed tracks new groups and passes their IDs to the shared lifecycle. CSS transitions and unit tests cover the updated behavior.
The hook delegates row selection and fade timing to a shared helper. The helper tracks visibility and interaction events, then removes the fresh marker after settling. CSS applies transition styling to fresh commits and notification groups. Unit tests cover row selection, timing, and cleanup.

Hey man, this is a good idea, but you can simply highlight the new stuff by having a class that appears for you know three seconds or whatever, and then just fade it in. You don't need like a full JavaScript code just for this
@nunomaduro Thanks, good call. I've reworked it as you suggested: it's now a single animate-fresh-highlight CSS class that holds the highlight for about three seconds and then fades, with no JavaScript (6913c8b, +19/-1 across app.css and the notifications page). I can't reopen the PR myself. Could you reopen it if this looks right?
