Firstly please let me say this code has been really useful to me. It’s design is very clear, has tests and is very easy to debug. It is clear you know what you’re doing and I just wanted to say well done on the engineering.
I’m using your code to implement a terminal (ReTerm) for the remarkable 2 eink device. Your code has made my project 100x easier.
Anyway this PR implements a few helper functions that made it much easier to get text on my screen. E-ink devices are slow to update and low power so I needed to get notified just on changes. I could have done this by copying your implementation but I figure other people might want these updates too.
