refactor(opencode): stream events through the client and use the v2 config schema - #477
Event streams: the local aggregator and every remote server now consume the typed api.event.subscribe() iterator from @opencode/client instead of the eventsource package, with one shared reconnect, backoff and stall-detection loop. eventsource leaves backend/package.json.
Proxy: /api/opencode/* and /api/opencode-servers/* share one streaming forwarder. Request and response bodies stream (duplex: 'half') instead of being buffered, so events, media, file reads and session.log work through the Manager, and about 75 duplicated lines are gone.
Config: the hand-written config schema is replaced by @opencode/schema/config. Settings reads the effective v2 config through api.config.get and writes v2 keys, deleting the matching v1 entry in the same comment-preserving edit.
Types: session, status, permission and agent shapes come from the client. The duplicated interfaces in the frontend, backend and ocm-cli are removed.
Change
shared: validateOpenCodeConfig owns v2 validation; one flattened V2Event & { directory?, serverId? } event type; the v1 Session, Message, FileDiff schemas and OpenCodeConfigSchema are deleted.
backend: new opencode-event-subscription.ts (reconnect, exponential backoff, stall watchdog) used by both event hubs; new opencode-config-references.ts keeps {env:}/{file:} references when an entity is saved, including renames and v1 definitions; PATCH /opencode-config removes the v1 counterpart and is refused with 409 while a restart is pending; /opencode-config/managed returns { info }.
frontend: Settings agents, commands and MCP read the managed view; session status, transcripts and pending permissions use the client types; a local event-stream resync also refreshes the managed config.
ocm-cli: link probes the server through api.server.info().
pnpm test: CLI 453/453, backend 53 Bun suites and 4439/4439 Vitest, frontend 4084/4084
Live OpenCode 2.2.5 on a separate port with throwaway config: an entity save kept {env:ACME_KEY} and {file:} references, including a v1 agent migrated to v2; the assistant conversion kept a {file:} prompt; the local event stream reconnected after restarting OpenCode with a throwing disconnect handler
Browser check against a running Manager: Settings lists load, an agent save keeps its references, a legacy skills: { paths } object is refused with the new message, and a restart from Settings refetches the lists without a reload
Notes
Config is v2 only. A v1 file is still read correctly through api.config.get; saving an entity rewrites it as v2 and deletes the v1 entry.
/opencode-config/managed no longer returns revision; entity saves use the revision of the raw config.
The upstream resync is held until the Manager's OpenCode proxy accepts requests, so a restart no longer loses the catch-up reads.
Deferred: the MCP OAuth proxy keeps its own config-document lookup.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added a managed OpenCode configuration editor for agents, commands, providers, models, and MCP servers, with support for saving and removing individual entries.
Added conversion of assistant settings to the current OpenCode format while preserving comments and compatible references.
Session lists now distinguish root sessions from child sessions, and compaction activity is reflected in session status.
Improvements
OpenCode event streams and proxy requests now support streaming with more reliable reconnection and timeout handling.
Configuration updates provide clearer validation and server-availability feedback; MCP listings include configured servers and live status when available.
Model selection now uses distinct catalog and provider model identifiers.

Walkthrough
The PR updates OpenCode configuration handling, event subscriptions, proxy forwarding, frontend API integration, session compaction state, and CLI server probing. It adds managed-configuration reads and patches, migrates Assistant configuration to v2 shapes, and adopts typed OpenCode events.

Managed configuration and v2 migration backend/src/services/assistant-mode.ts, backend/src/services/opencode-config-*, backend/src/routes/opencode-config.ts, shared/src/opencode/*, shared/src/schemas/*
Backend configuration handling now validates v2 documents, reads managed source documents, restores configuration references, and removes replaced v1 entity paths during merge updates. Assistant setup builds v2 configuration and adds a conversion routine for existing v1 Assistant entries.
Settings API and editors frontend/src/api/settings.ts, frontend/src/api/types/settings.ts, frontend/src/hooks/useOpenCodeManagedConfig.ts, frontend/src/components/settings/*
The frontend retrieves managed configuration and submits revisioned entity patches. Editors use OpenCode v2 fields and null values for cleared or removed entries. The raw editor submits parsed JSONC for backend validation.
Related configuration contracts and validation backend/test/routes/*opencode-config*, backend/test/services/opencode-config-*, frontend/src/components/settings/*test*
Tests cover managed-source merging, validation responses, reference restoration, v1 entity replacement, patch payloads, and managed-config loading and error states.
Typed event streams and session state
Layer / File(s)
Summary
OpenCode subscriptions and event delivery backend/src/services/opencode-event-*, backend/src/services/remote-server-events.ts, backend/src/services/sse-aggregator.ts
Local and remote event consumers use OpenCode API subscriptions and typed events. Subscription handling includes reconnect backoff and a stall watchdog. Event replay and envelope delivery use event objects.
Frontend stream handling and compaction shared/src/schemas/sse.ts, frontend/src/lib/opencode-event-stream/*, frontend/src/contexts/EventContext.tsx, frontend/src/stores/sessionStatusStore.ts, frontend/src/pages/SessionDetail.tsx
The frontend uses the shared stream-event type, handles SSH host-key and compaction events, and invalidates managed configuration on local resync. Compaction actions save and conditionally restore the session’s prior status.
A shared forwarding helper streams request and response bodies, preserves response status, handles null-body statuses, and applies header timeouts to bodyless requests. The proxy routes and OpenCode client delegate forwarding to it.
Frontend OpenCode API and model alignment frontend/src/api/opencode.ts, frontend/src/api/providers.ts, frontend/src/hooks/useOpenCode.ts, frontend/src/lib/modelSections.ts
Frontend request types derive from OpenCode API methods. Session listing and file search pass OpenCode request fields. Provider models keep catalog id separate from backing modelID.
CLI server probe ocm-cli/src/link.ts, ocm-cli/test/link.test.ts
The CLI uses the OpenCode API client to request server information and maps unauthorized, HTTP, and transport failures to probe results.
Saving an existing agent in the settings dialog can silently grant edit, shell or web-fetch access that the global config restricts. Resolve this before merge, or accept it explicitly, for example by writing a permission rule only when the user changes that action.

Saving an agent can replace inherited ask or deny permissions with allow.
An agent with no shell, edit, or webfetch wildcard rule displays allow. Saving the agent writes allow rules for those actions. OpenCode appends agent rules after global rules and uses the last match, so the agent rule overrides a global ask or deny for the same action. A global deny on a specific command, such as shell git push *, is also overridden by the agent's shell * allow.
handleSubmit writes all three managed actions on every save, including saves that change only the prompt. The dialog receives no global permission data, so it cannot show the inherited effect. The existing test at AgentDialog.test.tsx:252-283 asserts the fallback behavior but does not cover a global rule.
Keep an absent wildcard rule absent unless the user explicitly changes that action's effect. Doing so requires tracking which fields the user changed, or passing the inherited global effects into the dialog. The inspected code does not establish a safe localized patch for either option, so no diff is proposed.
