docs: 2026-10-28 seven-corpus re-measure at de5a7b80 - #576
Regenerates the index, graph-size and sync tables in the benchmark doc and README from the full 2026-10-28 re-run: upstream 69af19ac vs fork de5a7b80, 4 arms × 2 mirrored passes × 7 corpora, 168 rows, zero failures.
Fork wins 6/7 Node index cells (n8n 1.7×, CPython 2.1×, discourse 1.6×) and 6/7 Bun; pretix-Bun resolves from +2–4% residual to a tie (7.15 s vs 7.20 s).
New disclosed loss cells, both outside spread in every sample: gin index (~0.05–0.14 s fixed fork overhead on a 119-file index) and discourse sync (~0.3–0.6 s).
Index and sync tables regenerated from the full 168-row re-run
(upstream 69af19a, 4 arms x 2 mirrored passes). Fork now wins 6/7
Node index cells outright and 6/7 sync cells per runtime; pretix-Bun
index resolves to a tie. New disclosed losses: gin index (~0.1s
fixed overhead on a 119-file repo) and discourse sync (~0.5s).
Follow-up table gains #573-#575 rows.
The README and benchmark report update index and sync measurements to the 2026-10-28 remeasurement at fork revision de5a7b80. They revise benchmark tables, comparisons, and follow-up status.
The README and report identify the fork revision and date for the updated index and sync measurements. The report distinguishes these measurements from unchanged MCP, CLI, and explore results.
The full-index, graph-size, and one-file-sync tables contain updated measurements.
Comparisons and follow-up status README.md, docs/benchmarks/fork-vs-upstream-node-bun-2026-10-27.md
The text revises the reported wins, losses, memory comparisons, and current measurement status. The follow-up table adds PRs #573–#575.

The benchmark docs now contradict themselves. The updated tables report a pretix-Bun tie and new gin and discourse losses, while the scorecard and chart still show the old results. A couple of README timings also differ slightly from the table. Regenerate the derived scorecards and fix the README timings before merging, so the published comparison is consistent.

- Line 153: Regenerate the “Every result at a glance” section, heatmap,
comparison counts, loss list, and README performance card from the same
2026-10-28 raw benchmark run used for the updated index and sync tables. Ensure
the scorecards reflect the pretix-Bun tie and sync improvement and include the

- Line 223: Update the explanatory timings in the README paragraph to match the
current table: use 15.6 s for supabase and 49.4 s for n8n, or explicitly label
15.5 s and 49.5 s as results from an earlier intermediate run.

…28 run
The "Every result at a glance" count, loss list, heatmap and README card
still carried the earlier matrix: 57/10/9 with pretix-Bun index and sync
listed as losses. Regenerated from the same raw run as the tables —
adapt-flat-output + render-charts over the 2026-10-28 index-sync rows and
the carried 2026-10-27 MCP/CLI data — the scorecard is 57/6/13, adds the
gin index and discourse sync losses and the Alamofire index-memory loss,
and drops the pretix-Bun cells (now inside spread). README card alt text
and prose timings aligned to the generated figures (1.7x index, 3.5x
sync, 30% memory; supabase 15.6 s, n8n 49.4 s, pretix +34% Bun).
The MCP table carried bc27fdb; re-measured at 5784e28 on a clean
single-writer pass (Bun arms median of two, Node arms single). Busy
memory flipped from the run's one regression (4.54 -> 2.95 GiB vs
upstream's 3.83) and the fork now idles lower on every arm. The new
flag is Edited file re-indexed — which is the gate's own edge scan,
root-caused and fixed in this PR's provenance narrowing, not resynthesis.
…581)
* perf(sync): index the synthesis-touch check through edges.provenance
The gate added in #580 pays its check on every sync: the bulk
filesTouchingSynthesizedEdges() scanned all edges twice with a
per-row json_extract (~1.98 s on n8n's 1.2M-edge table), and the
per-file registeredAt leg was an unindexed full scan (~135 ms).
'n8n watchSync' measured the cost: fork ~1.9 s vs upstream ~0.97 s.
provenance='heuristic' is a strict superset of synthesizedBy edges,
so a provenance predicate narrows every leg through
idx_edges_provenance (~22k rows) before json_extract: bulk 1978->32ms,
per-file leg 135->4ms, same result set (3001 files verified equal on
the n8n db). Small syncs (<=64 checked files) now also take the
per-file indexed probes instead of building the bulk set at all.
