Native decoder benchmark for rooted LG webOS TVs.
While experimenting with Moonlight/Sunshine streaming on my LG C2 TV, I found that it could not go over ~65 Mbps. I got curious about the actual limits and built this: a native webOS app that stress-tests the video decoder pipeline.
Result? It turns out, C2 can decode 4K@60 at 220 Mbps, so the 65 Mbps cap has nothing to do with the decoder.
More generally, end-to-end streaming failures on these TVs are hard to localize. There are too many moving parts to blame with confidence: encoder settings, network transport, session setup, or the TV decoder itself. Decoder bench strips that down to one narrow question: can this TV decode and present this local workload cleanly through the SS4S NDL video path? It is not a Moonlight, Sunshine, or network benchmark, and not a general webOS performance score.
Install it and launch it. The app will go through the bundled test suite.
On rooted TVs, download an extended benchmark suite from releases and unpack it to a USB stick. Use the H.264-only archive on webOS 4 and the standard mixed H.264/HEVC archive on newer TVs. The app will run tests from there on launch and save benchmark results (CSV files) and logs there.
You can also run the app via the SSH/Telnet CLI.
