reload4j 1.2.27

2026-10-14 - Release of reload4j 1.2.27

• Buddy class loading support in OSGi (Equinox). reload4j loads the classes named in a configuration file (appenders, layouts, filters and so on) through its own bundle class loader. In an OSGi container, that class loader cannot see classes from other bundles. The reload4j manifest now declares:

Eclipse-BuddyPolicy: registered

A bundle that provides custom log4j components can make them visible to reload4j by adding the following to its own manifest:

Eclipse-RegisterBuddy: org.apache.log4j

Bundles that already use this header with the original log4j 1.2 bundle should work unchanged, because reload4j's Bundle-SymbolicName is also org.apache.log4j. The header is specific to Eclipse Equinox and is ignored by other OSGi frameworks such as Apache Felix and by non-OSGi environments. This fixes [issue #72](qos-ch/reload4j#72) ([PR #73](qos-ch/reload4j#73)), contributed by Simon Zilliken.

• The binary of this version can reproduced by checking out the at commit c61d2c2811c4b9895bf8eef20332e0b2e5d5a779 associated with the tag v_1.2.27 from the source code repository. This release was built using Java "8" build 1.8.0_381-b09 under Debian 11.6.
