QCast's Mac release fails on its current lock (setuptools 84.0.0) before py2app finishes:

    subprocess.check_call(cmd, **kwargs)
TypeError: Popen.__init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'verbose'

setuptools 84's spawn passes every keyword argument to subprocess.check_call; py2app 0.28.10 (the newest release) still passes verbose. The same build with setuptools 83.0.0 completes. This is the same kind of break as py2app issue ronaldoussoren/py2app#563 (dry_run with setuptools 81).

The bound is macOS-only, since py2exe on Windows does not go through this path.
