Summary

We run DailySounds and are submitting it ourselves, per CONTRIBUTING "Submitting your own source". The entry is written as a third party would (facts the site states, no comparisons or ranking language) and starts at needs-review so a maintainer can re-read the licence before it goes active.

New entry: catalog/audio/dailysounds.md, a free sound effects site (over 1,100 clips, MP3, WAV or OGG per sound, no account). Licence: the DailySounds sound license (custom): commercial use in games and apps allowed, credit optional, no reselling or re-uploading the raw files, no Content ID registration. Notes also record the licence page's own caution about fan-made clips whose titles name films, games or brands, that the WAV and OGG downloads are made from MP3s, and that the WAV packs sold on itch.io are a separate product (not linked).

The licence page (https://dailysounds.org/license, "Last updated October 5, 2026"), the home page and the packs page were read on 2026-10-29, the day of submission, and each Evidence line quotes them word for word. The ?ref=fgda on the url only counts visits from the catalog in our own logs; please drop it if you prefer the bare address. No existing issue or PR mentions DailySounds.

Changes: the new entry, its row in catalog/audio/README.md, and the count updates from npm run counts (README.md, catalog/README.md, site/config.json). The files were committed through the GitHub web editor and then checked byte for byte against a local clone where the checks ran.

Prepared with AI assistance: an AI assistant working for DailySounds drafted this PR and read every quoted page itself on 2026-10-29.

Type

  • New catalog entry
  • License / metadata correction
  • Starter stack
  • Docs or site

Checklist

  • Started from node site/new-entry.mjs <category> <id> or copied catalog/TEMPLATE.md (new entries)
  • id is unique across the whole catalog
  • Live license checked today; ## Evidence has a dated line quoting it
  • Row added to the category README.md, with the same licence as the frontmatter
  • Ran node site/sync-counts.mjs after adding or removing entries
  • Stacks: followed stacks/README.md; no licence named in a stack's own words (no stack changes)
  • npm test && npm run validate passes locally (CI runs the full npm run check, including the build); npm run check passes too (418 entries)
  • If I publish the source, I say so above; if an agent or script drafted this, every licence fact was still read at the source by me (by the assistant that drafted it, on the live pages, 2026-10-29)
  • I dedicate this contribution to the public domain under CC0 1.0 (see CONTRIBUTING, "Licence of contributions")

Owner

Thanks for the clear disclosure and the careful entry. I re-read the licence, home and packs pages today (2026-10-29), and every Evidence quote matches word for word. npm test and npm run validate pass.

One change before merge: please drop the tracking parameter from url, so it reads url: https://dailysounds.org/. No catalog entry carries a referral or tracking parameter, and the catalog keeps it that way.

Heads-up: #163 (Soundza) also takes the total from 417 to 418, so whichever merges second will need node site/sync-counts.mjs re-run (expected: audio 37, total 419). I'll handle that at merge if it comes to it.
