frontmatter: a comment line between a key and its block list produces a misleading error #84

Closed

Description

@TMHSDigital

Why it matters
Writing

tags:
  # content words only
  - low-poly

yields tags: null plus line N: list item without a key above it, which sends the contributor looking at the wrong line. The template encourages comments, so this will happen.

Evidence

  • site/lib/frontmatter.mjs:88-93 peeks at the next line without skipping blank or comment lines.

Suggested approach
Skip blank and # lines when looking ahead for the block list; add a test.

Done when
The example above parses to ["low-poly"].

    @AnushreeKasturi

    Hi! I'd like to work on this. I'll update the lookahead in site/lib/frontmatter.mjs to skip blank and # comment lines, and add a test so the example parses to ["low-poly"]. Could you assign it to me?
