Steven Kight

I'm an AI/ML engineer with a research focus in high-performance simulation and intelligent systems. My work sits at the intersection of applied mathematics, systems programming, and machine learning - I'm most interested in problems where the math is hard and the compute constraints are real.

Research Interests

  • Physics simulation and HPC - building research-grade engines using C/C++, Fortran, and CUDA
  • Intelligent systems - multimodal AI, classification architectures, and agent-based workflows
  • Applied mathematics - deriving and implementing mathematical models for computational physics

Active Projects

Physics Engine A multi-language HPC physics simulation engine targeting rigid body mechanics. Built in C/C++, Fortran, and CUDA with CMake for portable cross-platform builds. Focused on GPU-accelerated computation and mathematically rigorous simulation design.

Home Media Stack A self-hosted home media server built on Docker with automated setup, privacy-first design, and no cloud required.

Languages & Tools

Research & HPC - C, C++, Fortran, CUDA, CMake, MATLAB, Python

AI / ML - TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, OpenCV, PyTorch

Backend - FastAPI, Celery, Django, ASP.NET, Spring Boot, SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Systems - Rust, Java, C#

Full Stack - React, React Native, JavaScript, TypeScript

Infrastructure - Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Azure DevOps, Proxmox, CI/CD
