Add NoiseScheduleVP for Kumo-Anomaly’s DPM-Solver++ inference path, replacing this PR’s DDPM reverse step.

Preserve Kumo-TS’s schedule coefficients, tail truncation, time grid, interpolation, and inverse half-logSNR lookup. Include tests for numerical behavior, device/dtype conversion, and gradients.

This PR adds only the noise schedule—not the full solver. Solver updates, conditioning, checkpoint loading, and anomaly scoring remain follow-ups. Existing DPM-Solver attribution is retained; no new dependencies or license files are introduced.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added continuous-time variance-preserving noise schedule calculations, with interpolated coefficients and inverse half-logSNR lookup.
  • Tests
    • Added coverage for schedule truncation, interpolation with unsorted or repeated inputs, boundary extrapolation, device and dtype handling, and invalid schedules. Tests also verify that extrapolation produces finite, nonzero gradients.

NoiseScheduleVP derives continuous-time variance-preserving coefficients from discrete betas. Its methods interpolate coefficient values and provide inverse half-logSNR lookup. Tests cover truncation, interpolation, extrapolation, tensor behavior, conversion, and invalid schedules.

Changes: VP noise schedule

Layer / File(s) Summary

NoiseScheduleVP builds coefficient tables, truncates the tail at the half-logSNR threshold, and provides interpolated coefficient and inverse methods. Tests check values, shapes, gradients, dtype and device conversion, nonpersistent buffers, and invalid inputs.

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~20 minutes

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to ad160

The schedule currently has nonzero gradients at all tested points, but the test would miss a regression affecting some points. This is a limited test-confidence gap rather than a demonstrated runtime failure, so it is suitable for follow-up and does not block merging.

Add a query-time gradient assertion.

NoiseScheduleVP.marginal_log_mean_coeff passes the query tensor into _interpolate, whose arithmetic preserves gradients with respect to x. The added tests never enable gradients on their query tensors or inspect gradients, so detaching this interpolation would preserve all asserted values and pass the suite.

Check every query gradient.

test_noise_schedule_extrapolation uses queries that all reach nonzero-slope interpolation or extrapolation segments. The current assertion can pass when one query has a zero gradient. Require every gradient to be nonzero.
