Installing the fork (Linux x86_64, prebuilt):

curl -fsSL https://github.com/JSBtechnologies/codex/releases/latest/download/install-fork.sh | sh

Fork releases are tagged
fork-v<version>
, the binary reports
<version>+fork
, and they are built by .github/workflows/fork-release.yml from the same package layout upstream ships (
codex-package-<target>.tar.gz
). The installer puts the package under
~/.codex/packages/standalone
and links
~/.local/bin/codex
. Needs glibc 2.35+ (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, WSL2). Windows packages are the next step. To cut a release:
git tag fork-v0.1.0 && git push origin fork-v0.1.0
. To build from source instead, see atrium-smoke/README.md.

Coming from a previous Codex setup: the fork reads the same
~/.codex
(
config.toml
,
auth.json
, trusted folders), so on the same machine nothing needs migrating. For a separate home (
CODEX_HOME=~/.codex-fork
) or a Windows setup moving into WSL, scripts/install/migrate-codex-home.sh (also attached to each release) copies the config, login and your own skills/rules, rewrites Windows trusted-folder keys to
/mnt/<drive>/…
paths, merges additively into an existing
config.toml
, and leaves machine state (packages, sqlite, caches) behind:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/JSBtechnologies/codex/releases/latest/download/migrate-codex-home.sh -o migrate-codex-home.sh
bash migrate-codex-home.sh --dry-run # under WSL: finds /mnt/c/Users/<you>/.codex by itself
bash migrate-codex-home.sh --from ~/.codex --to ~/.codex-fork # explicit source and destination
