# Fork release: prebuilt Codex packages for this fork (JSBtechnologies/codex).
#
# This is the fork's counterpart to upstream's rust-release.yml, which needs
# OpenAI's self-hosted runners, signing, Bazel and R2. This one runs on
# GitHub-hosted runners and publishes the same artifact upstream ships: a
# "Codex package" (codex-package-<target>.tar.gz) holding bin/codex,
# bin/codex-code-mode-host, codex-resources/bwrap and codex-path/rg, built by
# the upstream package builder (scripts/build_codex_package.py).
#
# Everything is explicitly fork-labelled so it can never be mistaken for an
# upstream release:
# - tags are fork-v<semver> (upstream uses rust-v<semver>)
# - the binary reports <semver>+fork (`codex --version`)
# - the GitHub release title and notes say it is the fork
#
# Release: git tag fork-v0.1.0 && git push origin fork-v0.1.0
# Install: curl -fsSL https://github.com/JSBtechnologies/codex/releases/latest/download/install-fork.sh | sh
#
# Linux first. Windows needs codex-command-runner.exe and
# codex-windows-sandbox-setup.exe in the package plus Authenticode signing; see
# upstream's rust-release-windows.yml when adding it.

**This is a release of the JSBtechnologies fork of Codex, not an OpenAI release.**

Fork version: \`${VERSION}+fork\` (tag \`${TAG}\`, commit \`${GITHUB_SHA}\`).

What this fork adds on top of upstream:
- Unix-socket allowlist enforcement in the Linux sandbox (seccomp broker on Linux 5.19+, Landlock on 7.1+), so sandboxed agents can reach an allowlisted control socket such as atrium's and nothing else.
- \`--trust-folder\`: trust the working directory for one run without writing config.
- \`daemon_auto_start\` off by default.

## Install (Linux x86_64)

\`\`\`sh
curl -fsSL https://github.com/${FORK_REPO}/releases/download/${TAG}/install-fork.sh | sh
\`\`\`

Installs into \`~/.codex/packages/standalone\` and links \`~/.local/bin/codex\`, the same layout as upstream's standalone installer. Set \`CODEX_INSTALL_DIR\` to change the bin dir. Needs glibc 2.35 or newer (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, WSL2 Ubuntu).

## Assets
- \`codex-package-<target>.tar.gz\` / \`.tar.zst\`: the Codex package (bin/codex, bin/codex-code-mode-host, codex-resources/bwrap, codex-path/rg, codex-package.json)
- \`codex-package_SHA256SUMS\`: checksums the installer verifies
- \`install-fork.sh\`: the installer

This fork has an implementation of a broker design. The helper intercepts connect() with seccomp user notification, copies the address, takes the socket with pidfd_getfd, and connects itself through an O_PATH handle to the checked socket. It never continues the call in the kernel. Entries are pinned by inode at startup and judged after symlinks; abstract addresses are refused; sockets bound inside the sandbox stay reachable. Unix datagram sockets are refused because they name a destination on every send; seqpacket ignores the sendto address, so it stays allowed. If the kernel can't support it, it fails closed and keeps today's EPERM.
On Linux 7.1+ the fork uses Landlock (
LANDLOCK_ACCESS_FS_RESOLVE_UNIX
) instead: the kernel checks connect() and addressed sends itself, so Unix datagram sockets work there, and the broker covers older kernels.
To use it, list the allowed sockets under
[permissions.<profile>.network.unix_sockets]
with the managed network proxy enabled. See codex-rs/linux-sandbox/README.md for the matching rules and per-kernel behavior.

Installing the fork (Linux x86_64, prebuilt):

curl -fsSL https://github.com/JSBtechnologies/codex/releases/latest/download/install-fork.sh | sh

Fork releases are tagged
fork-v<version>
, the binary reports
<version>+fork
, and they are built by .github/workflows/fork-release.yml from the same package layout upstream ships (
codex-package-<target>.tar.gz
). The installer puts the package under
~/.codex/packages/standalone
and links
~/.local/bin/codex
. Needs glibc 2.35+ (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, WSL2). Windows packages are the next step. To cut a release:
git tag fork-v0.1.0 && git push origin fork-v0.1.0
. To build from source instead, see atrium-smoke/README.md.
