Eight eMudhra (emSign) intermediate CAs had recoverable private keys and were revoked on 2026-10-18. Python does not check revocation, so the image's system store (ca-certificates 20250419) still trusts certificates minted through them and connects to https://dv-g3b-emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com/. The fetcher uses requests, which goes through certifi; the requirements are unpinned, so a fresh build already gets certifi 2026.10.19. The system store is what the rest of the image (curl, wget) uses.

The fix lists ca-certificates in the existing apt step, which upgrades it to 20250419+deb13u1, the Debian update that distrusts them. Version 1.1.1 so it ships as a release.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Release

    • Updated the package and Docker image version to 1.1.1.
    • Updated the getting-started documentation to use the new image version.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved Docker certificate trust by explicitly installing current CA certificates.

📝 Walkthrough

The Docker image now installs ca-certificates. Package metadata, the reported package version, the getting-started Docker example, and the version test now use version 1.1.1.

Change: Bug fix

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 78a4d

The image now distrusts the compromised eMudhra certificates for both system tools and the Python fetcher, and the 1.1.1 version references are consistent. The only remaining item is a small Dockerfile hygiene fix to avoid installing recommended packages. It is safe to merge with that follow-up.

Add --no-install-recommends to the APT command.

The repository enables hadolint, and this command omits its recommended-package guard. Add the flag to avoid installing unnecessary packages.
