Browser CI: service-worker-preview-proxy packaged-remote tests fail on unchanged main (WordPress 7.1 drift) #2577

Problem

tests/service-worker-preview-proxy.browser.test.ts now fails on an unchanged main (3ba4c074; empty-commit draft PR #2576). It passed on main on 2026-10-24.

Failing tests:

  • not ok 4 - the preview proxy returns a connected client from the packaged Playground remote
  • not ok 5 - the browser SDK double-buffers packaged Playground previews with full runtime replacement

Console output from both tests:

warning: Loaded WordPress version (7.1) differs from requested version (latest).
warning: Failed to execute 'postMessage' on 'DOMWindow': The target origin provided ('https://playground.wordpress.net') does not match the recipient window's origin ('http://127.0.0.1:5400').

The trace shows /sw.js fetched three times, each returning 200, and no connected client. The repo didn't change, so this looks like drift in an external input: the WordPress latest release (now 7.1) or the packaged remote. That input should be pinned so the test can't drift.

Desired state

The browser job is green on main again, with the release or remote version the test depends on pinned.
