- Other agents (`gemini`, `codex`) are mapped but untested; `--cwd` is still present in their builders and may be wrong.
- Worktrees are created next to the repository (`<repo>-fsc-<task>`), not inside it.
- Scale: see issue #10. Nothing here says anything about 100 or 1000 agents.

## Second run: tasks that conflict (2026-10-26)

Scratch repo: `config.py` (`GREETING = "hello"`, `TIMEOUT = 5`) and `util.py` (a `double(x)` stub). Tasks given with `run --tasks tasks.json` so the conflict is guaranteed:

- `greet-a`: set `GREETING` to `"hi there"`
- `greet-b`: set `GREETING` to `"good day"` (same line, different value)
- `double-c`: implement `double(x)` (independent)

Result (3 real `claude` agents in parallel, 48 s, exit code 1):

- `double-c` and `greet-a` merged at tier 1; `main` has `GREETING = "hi there"` and `return x * 2`.
- `greet-b` was **not** merged: `MERGE_CONFLICT (tier2 blocked): config.py`. The report names the file, prints the recovery steps (`git cherry-pick <hash>` ...), and the work is kept on branch `fsc/greet-b` (one commit, `config.py` changed). Its worktree was removed; main is clean.
- Task order is by task id, so which of two conflicting tasks wins is decided by sorting, not by priority or quality.

### Defect found in the first attempt of this run

`double-c` was reported as merged, but `util.py` on `main` was unchanged. The merged commit (`auto: double-c completion`) contained only `__pycache__/util.cpython-312.pyc`: the auto-commit had swept an interpreter byproduct and counted it as the agent's work. Fixed: `__pycache__/`, `*.pyc` and `node_modules/` are never auto-committed, so such a task now fails with "The agent finished but made no changes". A regression test covers it.

Why the agent did not edit `util.py` that time is **not known**: agent output was not saved then. It is saved now (`.fsc/logs/<task>.log` in the repository) and the rerun above implemented `double` correctly, so the failure did not reproduce.

### Observation, not yet acted on

The spawned `claude` inherits the user's global configuration. In the rerun, the agent's final message was about Multica ticketing (an instruction from the author's global `CLAUDE.md`), so user-level hooks and instructions also apply inside FSC agents. That can slow a run or block it (a stop hook that demands an extra action), and may explain the one 16-minute analysis run in the first report; this is a hypothesis and was not tested. Candidate fix: run agents with `--setting-sources project` or an isolated config, to be decided.

### Still untested

Tier-2 auto-resolution on a real conflict, three or more conflicting tasks, an agent that fails or times out, `gemini`/`codex`.

P2 Badge Generate task IDs without colliding with supplied IDs

When a tasks file mixes explicit and omitted IDs, the generated IDs can collide with valid supplied ones: an explicit task-2 on the first entry and no ID on the second entry both become task-2. TaskStateStore.create() overwrites the first task's state, and both executions target the same branch and worktree. With concurrent execution, WorktreeManager.create() can even force-remove the first task's active worktree while its branch has no commits ahead of the base. Reserve supplied IDs before generating defaults and reject duplicate IDs before scheduling.

Validate each task before execution.

A file containing [{}] passes this check. The CLI then prints an undefined title and sends a task without a description to the scheduler. Reject records with missing or invalid required Task fields before applying defaults and starting work.

Save the full log on Salacia rejection.

If Salacia blocks a task, execute returns before this logging block. Worktree cleanup then removes the full agent output; the result retains only capped logs. Write the log on that return path as well, or place logging in a shared completion path.

P2 Badge Ignore persistent logs before writing them into the repository

When the exported UnifiedScheduler is used directly in a repository that does not already ignore .fsc/, these new logs remain untracked because ignoreStateDir() is called only by the CLI/analyzer. If a merge reaches successful tier-2 resolution, CommitSequencer.apply() stages them into the task commit through its unrestricted git add -A call (packages/core/src/execution/sequencer.ts:101; git add -h describes -A as “add changes from all tracked and untracked files”). This commits complete agent output and prompt fragments into the user's branch. Ensure the state directory is ignored in the core execution path before creating persistent logs, rather than relying on the CLI entry point.

Reject artifact-only commits made by the agent.

These exclusions do not apply to commits the agent has already made. If the agent commits only a .pyc file, the later baseBranch..HEAD check still returns a commit hash. execute then reports success and the merge can accept that commit. Check for meaningful changes against the base branch before returning a commit hash.

Keep already-staged artifacts out of automatic commits.

If an agent stages a .pyc file and leaves a source edit uncommitted, the filtered status finds the source edit. git add excludes the .pyc, but the subsequent git commit includes files the agent already staged. Remove excluded paths from the index before committing, or restrict the commit to allowed paths. Cover this mixed-stage case in a regression test.

Isolate the bytecode-only test from global Git ignore rules.

LocalExecution runs Git in a fixture repo that inherits the developer's global Git config. A global core.excludesFile that lists __pycache__ can make the .pyc fixture invisible to git add. The commit is then skipped, and the failure assertion passes without AUTO_COMMIT_EXCLUDES. Add a positive control that proves Git does not ignore the fixture path before the test runs:

Make the log test independent of the preceding test.

This test never calls execution.execute. It succeeds only if the bytecode-only test has already created local-test-pyc-only.log. Move these assertions into that test, or create a log through execution in this test, so an isolated test run works.
