Hi WG, should we ask the TAG to review the new meta value we resolved to add in #12380?

That's the extent of this issue -- whether we, as a WG, request the TAG to review it.

(We've previously discussed and approved of this work in the WG, so this is likely just a procedural matter; the TAG distinguishes between things that a WG has put its stamp on for review, and things implementors are bringing up independently of (/prior to) WG review.)

For TAG review requests, I think we should go with the normal agenda rather than async. And is the spec text in yet? We shouldn’t make a request until there is spec text available to review.

The spec text is currently in a PR #13052 and has gone through review. (Currently pending a final re-review of the edits based on feedback given before TPAC.)

Update: I filed for a TAG review without the WG's endorsement -- w3ctag/design-reviews#1172. That makes this issue moot.

However, I'm still interested in future discussion about criteria for how and when to get the WG's endorsement for TAG reviews. Maybe the WG could endorse the request for a TAG review at the same time as the underlying substantive resolution, with the understanding that the endorsed TAG review request will only be filed after the spec text is committed to an editor's draft in the csswg repo?

We should definitely wait on committed spec text (still pending for this instance) before requesting review. And I think we should allow any working group member to request more time to review edits before the group requests a review. I’d prefer some deliberation on our part before short-circuiting the process the TAG is using to prioritize their work.
