System to boot cleanly and acquire an IP on my home network

Steps to reproduce

upgrade system, including upgrade to dhcpcd-10.3.2_2. Don't yet reboot.
Disable wifi (probably)
Plug ethernet into home router and the computer
// check if internet access. if so ...
reboot
you'll probably see similar messages or in console. I boot into a shell then start one of my favorite window managers.

Given dhcpcd-10.3.2_1 works, but dhcpcd-10.3.2_2 doesn't (for me), suspicion lies with the changes between those releases.

Forgot to look at the upstream project. I don't see any smoking guns.

10.3.2 included two specific DHCP fixes for 589 and 588

There were other DHCP fixes in 10.5.0 and 10.5.1

There is an interesting 684 that fixes one of the two 10.3.2 changes and which appears to be a systemd potential dependency for a hook.

between 10.3.2_1 and 10.3.2_2 the only change was the removal of log capture for the service, because dhcpcd apparently logs to syslog instead of stdout. if you're seeing logs there it might mean it logs to syslog and stdout

If the changes are as you state, I don't know why my pc can't get an IP address just after boot time with 10.3.2_2 but can with 10.3.2_1. I know it's IPv4 for sure; and has worked well for years and plugged into a mesh router until this 10.3.2_2 update today. Let me see if I can get some logs in a day or few if/when I can duck away from work.

My other wifi only laptop on the same network has some new dhcpcd output (stdout obviously) starting out that no interfaces have a carrier, then waiting for a carrier..

Then 4 lines of address changes (A to B, then B back to A),
Shows my SSID's name, more address, rebinding, leaded, route changes. This happens after Login: and before Password: on my console.

In my last comment, the whole block "My other wifi only laptop" (which also runs Void), has this new stdout seen as I mentioned. That's my other computer - not the desktop with ethernet. Sorry for the confusion. Let me edit that with a text line.
