Object Pooling in Unity

Object Pooling is a performance optimization technique that reuses GameObjects instead of creating and destroying them repeatedly.

Why Use Object Pooling?

Creating and destroying GameObjects frequently causes:

  • Increased Garbage Collection
  • FPS Drops
  • Higher CPU Usage
  • Memory Fragmentation

Object pooling avoids these problems by recycling existing objects.

Benefits

  • Better FPS
  • Lower Memory Usage
  • Faster Gameplay
  • Reduced Garbage Collection
  • Improved Mobile Performance

Best Practices

  • Create pools during game initialization.
  • Disable objects instead of destroying them.
  • Reuse bullets, enemies, particle effects, and UI elements.
  • Profile performance using the Unity Profiler.
