Theme documentation never states what a theme is!

Was textpattern/textpattern#2024 from @skewray:

On the Textpattern website, https://docs.textpattern.com/build/themes-creating-using-and-sharing, the documentation on themes never states what a theme is, or why anyone would use one. Isn't that the very first topic that should be covered? I have looked through the documentation many times, and I am still baffled.
