Request for API access: Benan Aktas #3671

Description

@benanaktaspusulait
  • Please tell us about yourself (include an email address):

My name is Benan Aktas.
Email: aktas.benan@gmail.com

I am developing Daily Ayat, a small educational Islamic media project that publishes
carefully verified Quran verses, authentic supplications, and hadith-based reminders
for social media and video platforms.

The project uses Python for data retrieval and content preparation. Every published
item keeps its original source, collection name, book/chapter information, and hadith
reference for verification.

  • Your purpose in using this API:

I would like to use the Sunnah.com API to retrieve authentic hadith content,
especially supplications narrated from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

The data will be used to prepare a Daily Dua series. Each selected item will include:

  • Original Arabic text
  • Hadith collection and reference number
  • Narrator information when available
  • English translation
  • Translations or editorial versions in Turkish, German, French, and Spanish
    where appropriate
  • A source link and verification note

The content will be reviewed before publication. We will not scrape the website, mirror
the complete database, or redistribute the full hadith collection. Only selected,
properly cited hadiths and their metadata will be stored for scheduled content
production.

  • API rate limits:

    • Maximum requests per second: 1
    • Maximum requests per day: 100
  • Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?

Programmatic API access is better suited to this project.

The system will retrieve only the required hadith records, cache them locally, and
store the selected verified records for future use. We do not require a full offline
dump at this time, although we would be open to an official offline snapshot if the
Sunnah.com team considers that more appropriate.

  • What are the languages in which you would like hadith data?

Arabic original text is essential.

English translation is also essential.

If available, we would additionally be interested in Turkish, German, French, and
Spanish translations. If those translations are not available through the API, we will
handle them separately while preserving the original Arabic text, English source, and
hadith reference.

  • What programming language will your API client be in?

Python 3.

The client will use standard REST/JSON requests, local caching, and low-frequency
scheduled retrieval.
