I am developing a personal DJ library companion using the SoundCloud API. The application displays liked tracks and playlists and helps organize them by BPM and musical key.
Unfortunately, the bpm and key_signature fields appear to be empty for all tracks in my library. I understand that the API Terms prohibit downloading, capturing, fingerprinting, or processing SoundCloud audio outside the permitted API functionality. I do not want to bypass these restrictions.
Could you please clarify whether SoundCloud offers any compliant way to:
retrieve BPM and musical-key metadata that may not be included in the standard track response;
request server-side analysis of tracks;
use an approved SoundCloud or partner service for BPM/key detection;
obtain special permission or API access for analyzing streamed tracks;
access this information through another official endpoint or product?
The application is currently intended for personal, non-commercial use. It would not offer downloads, store SoundCloud audio, or make analyzed audio available to other users.
If automatic analysis is not permitted, I would appreciate confirmation and any recommended alternative for building this feature.
