[FEAT] add docs for appimage best practices #375

@FredHappyface

Description

@FredHappyface

Benefit

As noted by multiple online resources appimages are very much and anti pattern, and encourage downloading random files from the internet. Despite this many Linux applications offer appimage only installs, such as some popular emulators and games.

Also another note whilst this would be a security degradation over installing flatpaks etc, this would reduce user confusion

Solution

My proposal would be to add a section to the faq around managing these, including a link to the drawbacks of using appimages and generally discouraging use. But then outlining best practices around installing and managing updates. For example using gear lever

I'd be happy to investigate and do a write up if of interest to the project
