I've been testing this code but I can't do much. Seems that this was not designed for the latest version of libmbus.

Can you give me some help on this?

The path to libmbus.so is hardcoded to '/usr/local/lib/libmbus.py' in MBus.py. The ubuntu packages of libmbus now install the library to '/usr/lib/libmbus.so'. If you change the path and resetup the python script you should be good to go!

Actually, it should be possible for python-mbus to autodetect this. Whilst digging around for fixes to a segfault bug on AMD64 I saw this:
