java process going rogue with 5000+ threads

I started seeing slowness on my computer and it is due to a java process taking up 99.99% of cpu.

I can kill it but it soon again starts.

Today I managed to run jstack and saw it has over 5739 threads running

maybe its related to #4307 as its in a repo with lots of small projects (~60) in a multimodule project.

This issue is caused by eclipse-buildship/buildship#1358
