Code in Place is a free, beginner-friendly online course that covers the first half of Stanford University's introductory programing curriculum, CS106A. It focuses entirely on foundational Python programming and computational thinking. It avoids advance topics like object-oriented programming, web frameworks, data science libraries, or machine learning, focusing instead on establish rock-solid grasp of programming logic.
You will have two options to learn Python either in the live course or the self-guided course. In the live course, you will be learning a structured curriculum from Stanford and meet a section leader each week to reinforce your understanding. The curriculum contains problems after each lesson, designed for you to apply what you have learned. By the end, you will be capable of making the game called break out just by using Python.

If you are interested in joining the live course, which is free, their applications usually open by mid February until early April. The classes will start often by late April and lasts for about six weeks. They may also have events you can join as a student such as but not limited to introduction to data science, image manipulation, and artificial intelligence.
In the self-guided course, you will not be meeting with a section leader as the name suggests. You will be learning on your own, but you will be given the same curriculum from the live course. You do not need to apply. You can start on the self-guided course anytime and anywhere. You will still received online lectures from videos and work on problems that enhance your programming thinking and Python.

The Code in Place team recently added a Probability for Artificial Intelligence course. If anyone is interested in learning the alphabets of artificial intelligence namely probability, the course will help you solidify that concept.

Caveat, the resource is new. There is no self-guided course yet. But I heard they might have one soon enough.

While you will be creating programs, it only serves as a foundational resource for beginners. If you are looking to learn more advance concepts such as object-oriented programming, web frameworks, data science libraries, or machine learning, the resource is not for you.
