Problem or use case
I would like to be able to have files to put in my dotfiles repo that could mimic the exact configuration. For example, on the latest nightly at the time of writing, being able to enable the new sidebar without having to dig through the UI on every single computer and server I use when using the web app.
Proposed solution
Separate properly the files that hold the configuration and the local state.
Why this matters
This would make people who don't just have one UI to all environments still be able to feel at home after the initial setup done in the terminal.
Smallest useful scope
A first pass that just has the selected options different from the default in the general settings and betas.
