Notifications won't work with the F-Droid version. Still true?

The readme on this GitHub page says:

Please note that Notifications won't work with the F-Droid version due to missing Google Play Services.

However, I'm told that Nextcloud Talk Android 24.0.0 added “Unified Push support” on June 8, 2026, and 24.0.1 on June 15 fixed “some notifications are not shown.” UnifiedPush’s app list shows Nextcloud-Talk as supporting UnifiedPush since v24.0.0.

If my information about Nextcloud Talk Android 24.0.0 having Unified Push support is correct, the GitHub readme should be updated.

I hope to see Nextcloud Talk Android 24+ in F-Droid as soon as possible. How long does this usually take?

Additional context

My Android device does not have Google Play services.
For push notifications, I use an app called Sunup. https://unifiedpush.org/users/distributors/sunup/
We are running the Spring 26 release of NextCloud server suite.

When it's released on f-droid i will remove the info in the readme.

It is a problem with not allowed transitively pulled in google dependencies that come from blur feature for calls! So it's indeed a valid reason the f-droid build is blocked.

I will have a closer look which dependencies can be excluded without to loose the blur feature.

It must be fixed and released, so it might still take a few days until unified push is available for fdroid..
